Description

A monitor and app that alert you to changes in your cat’s weight and behavior.

The Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor system consists of a smart device and connected app that transform data about your cat’s litterbox behavior into insights about their well-being. The system identifies behavior and weight changes that may be associated with a health condition requiring veterinary diagnosis like UTI, kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism and obesity.

Here’s how it works:

Tracks: Place a monitor under each litter box. Sensors gather precise data on each cat’s weight and important litter box habits.
Detects: Using AI developed by pet and data experts, Petivity detects meaningful changes that may indicate weight issues or health conditions requiring veterinary diagnosis.
Alerts: Alerts are sent directly to your phone via the Petivity mobile app when changes might be cause for concern so you can be proactive in seeking veterinary care.

Get the clarity, confidence and peace of mind to know you’re doing what’s best for your cat.
• Designed with Purina veterinarians, behaviorists and data scientists.
• Measures frequency, time of day, waste type and cat’s weight to create a unique “paw print” for each cat.
• Sends alerts when changes may require your attention or a visit to the vet.
• Works with multiple cats simultaneously, identifying and tracking each cat’s behavior. No tracking collar is required.
• Smart enough to automatically recalibrate when litter is changed or scooped.

Amazing Device & Data for Pets

This device and the companion app are amazing. The device is very simple to install and pair with the app. The app is also very simple, requiring only an AppleID and then quick pairing with the device.

To get this working, you must categorize each event by cat (it shows you the weight of the cat, so this is actually really easy to do) for 8-ish events and then after that it will auto-categorize the cats (“learn each pet”). That’s all you have to do! From there it tracks and categorizes whether it was #1, #2, or nothing - you never have to do this.

We tested/verified the type of visit and cat visit using a Ring camera over a week - we were unable to find an event that was miscategorized by cat or by activity type. (3 cats, 3 visits each per day, 1 week = 42 events).

The app is basic, but does exactly what you want: there’s weight trending by cat, activity history by cat, and an events timeline (which also says which box if you have multiple). I’ve got absolutely no complaints about this product and really hope other cat parents will adopt it.

If you’re into quantified cats, I also highly recommend the SurePet microchip feeding system & cat door. With SurePet and Petivity, you have a full 360-degree view of your cat.

Cat Mom of 4 ,

Generates Inaccurate Data / Alerts. No useful push notifications.

The app is underwhelming development-wise and data syncing is lagging (if it even happens at all.) It’d be nice to receive push notifications when a certain cat enters / uses the box instead of needing to check the app throughout the day. The most frustrating part of this app is despite manually assigning each event to the appropriate cat while in learning mode, the app continuously generates inaccurate data linking it to the very first cat registered to the scale. Therefore, the entire month of weight data has gotten screwed up and there is no way to fix this manually. The end of month report is essentially useless now. I’ve tried everything. Customer service doesn't understand my issue and is unable to help me. 3/4 cats have yet to have their events synced to their profile. 1/4 cats have completely skewed data. This is incredibly frustrating. A completely trivial matter, but the ability to upload your own profile picture for each cat would be ideal given the minimal selection of cartoon cat avatars.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for being part of the Petivity family. We appreciate your honest feedback and apologize for any difficulties associated with the app. We’re happy to share that the app features an option to see real-time notifications. These can be turned on and off on each cat's profile in the notifications section in settings. The initial training phase helps the monitor learn and provide the most accurate data. While the monitor does rely on your input for the first week or so, the frequency of event notifications will decrease once you reach 8+ labeled events per cat. If an event arrives mislabeled, there is an option to edit the event to attribute it to the proper cat or elimination. We appreciate your interest in having the ability to upload your cats' photos to the app and have shared this with our team as we’re always looking for enhancements that will benefit all users. Additionally, we want you to have the best Petivity experience, and we are working hard to identify the source of any slowness in app performance. We appreciate you sticking with us, and we would love to learn more and offer additional assistance. We invite you to

Great tool for track my cat’s health

My cat has several health issues and keeping track of her weight is important. This was aggravated by her great dislike for being picked up. Petivity has made all our life’s better. I can keep her vet updated on her weight and her trends without drama.

The downside… I hate the dot graphs for urine and bowel movements. Please bring back the line graphs. Also, generating iPhone screen sized PDFs are pretty silly and produces mostly unusable results. Please expand the PDF reports to use the full page size.
