More not necessarily better

Having a smooth streamlined experience is a great goal but for me I’m preferring the old app. Majority of the time I use my favorites. I utilize personal notes heavily and this is a great feature. In the old app, all you see are the drug names. I can see nearly all of them on my screen at once. For the others I just scroll down a bit on the second page. In the new app there are pretty blue boxes around each drug, the word Monograph, and a star. Why have all that clutter that serves no purpose? Why the star….. to show its a favorite ? It’s my favorite list, of course it’s a favorite! I have to wade through no fewer than 5 screens to find my favs. In no way does the new favorites layout enhance the user experience. I have difficulty believing you had practitioners on your development team that liked this layout. I can continue to use the unsupported old app, yes?

Developer Response ,

We appreciate your feedback on the new Plumb’s. We built the new Plumb’s side-by-side with our team of practicing veterinarians to help solve the problems we all face in practice every day. We know it looks and feels different, and we know it can take time to adjust to new workflow experiences. This is great feedback about the favorites experience, and we’ll take it back to our team for further discussion. Plumb’s is powered by an all-new and significantly improved search, which is accessible from nearly every screen in the app and at the top of each screen on the website. When looking for drug information, search is the fastest and easiest way to access drug monographs and appendix items, and it’s right at the top of your home screen. Start typing a drug name for instant search results, continue typing to filter down the results, and no need to scroll through a long list of drug names. Favorites have moved to a new location, but are easy to access right at the bottom of your home screen in the app, or on the homepage on the website. Medication guides can now be added to favorites, so the Monograph label is included so you can easily distinguish between the drug monographs and medication guides in your favorites. The star is there so you can favorite or unfavorite any monograph or medication guide you would like for easy access. The old Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs app no longer contains current drug information and will not be updated. The new Plumb’s was built to improve your experience and ensure enhanced reliability and speed, which we know is critical during a busy work day. If it’s not doing that once you’ve spent some time adjusting to the changes, please contact us in our help center. We will continue to work with and listen to practitioners to make improvements to the new Plumb’s.

Overall very useful, but minor functionality issues on iPad

I have been using this app for about a year and find it a very valuable resource. It’s handy to have the info at my finger tips and on my phone. The most recent update added some nice features like the drug interaction checker.
My only real problem involves use on an iPad. I have my iPad attached to a magic keyboard in landscape. There are numerous compatibility issues. For instance, the calculator is very small and the “buttons” overlap when on the full screen, but if I open a second app into a split screen, then the calculator enlarges to fill the entire half of the screen and the “buttons” are all fine.
Another frustrating problem is that I don’t get any option to save a note when using the magic keyboard and I cant access the on-screen keyboard from the app. Again, I have to open a second app into a split screen in order to gain access to the on-screen keyboard for the save button to appear.

Hi! We’re so glad to hear Plumb’s is useful to you. Thank you for sharing your specific concerns regarding use with the magic keyboard and your iPad. We are aware the tablet version has some compatibility issues, especially in landscape mode, and our team is evaluating possible solutions to improve that experience. In the meantime, you can always access the entire Plumb's platform from via the website at Simply sign-in from any device - it is optimized for desktop, tablet, or mobile, and you’ll have full access to your Plumb’s subscription. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

Not a fan of update…

I use the plumbs app every single day in practice, however this update is a big thumbs down. I agree with most of the reviews on ease of use and I’m not convinced busy practicing veterinarians had input on the update. While I was so excited about having a calculator and drug interactions, the execution was poor. I consider myself very tech savvy but cannot even figure out how to easily pull up my notes. I wish they just kept the old version and improved it, hoping they take all of our input into consideration. Otherwise, I might not renew my subscription.

Developer Response ,
