Great price & streaming, but needs work!

I rarely write reviews with being very ill, and bedridden with very bad breathing difficulties. First off I do love Philo’s quality streaming and it’s an Awesome price too, especially with so many channels!!! The app though REALLY needs work with the channel guides!!!! I don’t have a TV right now so I only use the app! To record/DVR things ahead of time I have to scroll to the time/day, and then tap on the movie/tv show. Then it goes to the movie/show’s own page, and you can record or read about it. I would LOVE to be able to record/DVR just by tapping or double tapping the movie/show, or clicking a + or some button please on the main channel page!!! Not to mention the worst part is after setting the movie/show to record or just reading about the show/movie summary, you have to go back to the channel page, and then BOOM (with no choice!) you are no longer at the future schedule/time/day!!!!! You are sent back to the current time/day, making you have to scroll ALL THE WAY BACK FORWARD again to where you were, if you want to record multiple things ahead of time!!!! This is not only annoying but Extremely Frustrating, especially since the extra constant scrolling over and over again, really aggravates my already bad breathing issues!!!!! :( Definitely not user friendly for me, and I’d only guess annoying for everyone else!!!! PLEASE try to fix this, or I’ll sadly have to go to another streaming service! Thank you.

Hi Amber, just wanted to let you know that the Channel Profile no longer resets every time you navigate back to it, so you don't have to scroll excessively like before. And to DVR a show, you can now press and hold a tile to open the content modal and then press Save. Thank you again for your feedback, hope you are doing well!

Suggestion

I have been enjoying Philo on my fire stick almost 2yrs now I think it’s going on. When I wanna watch tv I put on Philo...everyday. Something I think could make it better is when in the guide you can still have what you are/were watching in a top corner while browsing thru the guide. Might be a looooong set of commercial ads like normal that happen (play so long I sometimes forget what I’m watching) but I’d be able to set future times for shows and see what I wanna watch next while not leaving my current channel. I’m sorry to compare cause you guys are better...BUT Pluto tv plays the show you’re watching while scrolling the guide and they are free. I know they play older stuff and it’s not current update shows...but nonetheless they still play some good stuff. It would just be nice is all. And don’t get me started on alllll the hallmark snd lifetime channels and other channels I don’t watch. Which is fine I just scroll over them. But since we are forced with your ways...just be nice. So for a rantish review. Still an awesome app tho!! I wouldn’t trade it in for any other tv app.
Y’all have a great rest of your week 😉

Philo is Good, but with so many tv options of today, it should be great.

I like philo. I’m currently on day 7 of the free trial. I do wish the UX design was a bit better. Overall user experience and discoverability could be improved. It should be effortless to scroll around and discover new shows—rather than seeing the same 10-15 in rotation. The Netflix or Yourube menu models allow for people to watch their normal preferences plus explore new shows they otherwise wouldn’t. Why? Because that increases app usage if you tell me what shows are good not just me watching the same (and only) shows I already know about. With Philo, I have to know the show I’m looking to watch. Also, the fact that when watching a season, the next episode doesn’t auto play is a bit out of touch with understanding user behavior.

I learned more about how the app works from reading these App Store reviews than I did from actually using the app.

It’s a good app & I hope they grow and fix things.
