Just like golf, the goal of the Play Nine is to take as few strokes as possible. Limit your strokes by matching pairs and getting a Hole-In-One. Take the fewest strokes and go for the lowest score after 9 Holes!

Each player is dealt eight cards with a discard pile and draw pile at the center of the table. To start the game each player flips two cards face up. Moving clockwise each player draws from either the deck or discard pile and has an option to replace one of their face up or facedown cards. If a player does not want their drawn card they may choose to flip one of their facedown cards for their turn. Players work to match vertical pairs of cards to reduce their number of strokes. Just like the game of golf, the person with the lowest score wins the hole.

Additional game instructions can be found in the app as well as an in-game tutorial that provides all the details on how to play.

Play Nine

Seeems to me that the winner is determined at the beginning of the game…The opponet gets every car they need and I get nothing that matches…no one can be that lucky…once you are so far apart in the score the game is not much fun! I think alot of times I’m playing with a computer…and why do some players wait until their time has expired before they play, making the game very boring! Having said all that, I do enjoy the game…just wish it was random cards, not so one sided!

Lots of work needed

The card game is great…the app….not so much.

I downloaded it a few weeks ago and didn’t have any issues with it freezing until the last few days. Today it froze on me 3 games in a row during the first hand.

My biggest problem, however, is that the “multiplayer online” games are played with bots. How else would you explain that there has never been a game when I haven’t gone last the first hand. You request a game and there is a 60 second timer down at the bottom (why? Who knows…) and the game always starts around 45 seconds showing. I go last literally every single game…25 out of 25 or so….the other players have a 20 second timer to play their turn but miraculously all play within about 3 seconds each time. Nobody ever gets distracted and lets it run down to 1 or 2 seconds….as if that’s real. If you want to put bots at the table, label them as bots. Seems odd that they’re trying to trick me into thinking I’m playing with real people when it’s insanely obvious I am not.

The game needs more competitiveness

To make this game more competitive our family added rules.
The person turning over the last card down must have the lowest score ultimately for that round or they receive a penalty of 10 points added to their score. Also, once 7 cards are turned up, you must play the card drawn. You either trade or go out. You can only skip if the card you draw is already in your hand facing up and only when 7 cards have been turned up. Please at least make this option. This is one of our family’s favorite games.
