Playback that answers to your typing: it stops the moment you start and picks up when you stop. Your hands never leave the keys, and nothing leaves your device. PlayScript is a transcription tool for people who type it out themselves. There is no speech recognition here, and nothing is sent anywhere to be processed. What you get instead is a player that answers to your typing, sitting in the same window as the text you are writing. Start typing and playback stops where it is. Stop, and after a moment it picks up from the same spot. You never reach for a pause key, because the app has already noticed. How long it waits is yours to set. Press Escape when you want to stop on purpose — that one rewinds a couple of seconds and stays paused until you say otherwise. A pause you asked for is different from one the app took to get out of your way, and PlayScript treats them differently. Slow the audio down or speed it up between 0.5x and 2x, with the pitch left alone so a voice at 0.7x still sounds like a voice. Drop in a timestamp with one shortcut, and click it later to jump straight back to that moment. Your work is saved as you type. Close a project and open it again whenever: the text, the playback position and the speed are all where you left them. With one attached it works as it does on a Mac; on the on-screen keyboard the transport controls are reachable by touch, but the app was made for hands that stay on the keys. COMPLETELY OFFLINE PlayScript has no network access whatsoever. There is no account to create, nothing to upload and nothing to sync. Your transcripts go only where you put them. Interviews under embargo, medical dictation, confidential meetings and unreleased research all stay on your device, because there is no mechanism for them to go anywhere else. Requires macOS 14 or later, or iPadOS 17 or later.
