Pocket Jam is for musicians wanting to practice and play along with their favourite songs. Loop specific sections of songs, or change the pitch or tempo in real time.

If you don't have a capo to hand — or worse, the song is in a lower tuning than you, Pocket Jam has you covered. You can change the pitch up and down — in real time — to any amount of semitones up to an octave.

Looping lets you pick specific parts of the song you want to practise. Once enabled, drag the left and right handles on the play bar to set the start and end of the loop, and it'll loop between them.

And when looping isn't enough, you can use the speed trainer. With a loop set up up, you can have it start each loop playing slowly, and gradually get faster after each loop. You can customise how slow it starts, and how many loops it takes to reach the full tempo.

Mark specific times in a song with section markers. It'll let you jump to parts or set up loops quicker.

You can add songs from your iTunes collection or from your Files on device.

Instructions would be nice

This app is great for practicing tap dance, but I’m having trouble figuring out how to use the speed trainer. As far as I can tell it does not increase speed within the set number of loops (I set it for 5 and at 10 I’m still going the same tempo) and after the latest update I have no idea what NaN means. Some basic explanatory notes would be very helpful! Also on the speed scrubber down there it would be nice to see what percent you’re starting at so I can match with the speed I set at the top of the screen instead of guessing roughly where 86% might be.

Seems like with the update we also lost the ability to set the start location of the loop. Now I always have to start at the beginning, but it would be nice to isolate a section mid-song.

Sorry about this — looks like there’s a bug. I’ll fix it ASAP! I’m the mean time, it looks like you can work around it by clearing your playlist an re-adding your songs

Edit: this is now fixed. You can update by going to the App Store and clicking your avatar in the top right corner. Thanks for the bug report!

Help! I love/need this app!

I use this app every single day. It has changed my life! I use it for my own practice and to help my students!

I commented before but I made a typo so I’ll explain again. The main complaint I have is that my imported songs get deleted. I wish the app would save it. I figure it has to do with the file being moved to iCloud after being downloaded. Every time I want to use the app- I need to re-download the songs, adjust the key/tempo, then delete the one that “could not be played”. I’m not sure if I’m explaining myself correctly. My boss is having the same problem. Please help.

Great product

This works great... wish it stepped down in 1/4 note increments instead of 1/2... also noticed when I close the app and come back next time my playlist is still there but it won’t let me play it so I have to clear list and re add them. Other than that it really works great for changing keys for different tunings on songs
