Putt Buddy unleashes the power of your LiDAR-equipped iPhone to automatically measure the distance, speed, and outcome of your practice putts with astonishing accuracy!
With Putt Buddy's simple and intuitive interface, setup is easy and takes under a minute. After a quick walk around the putting area to show Putt Buddy around, just set your iPhone in a stable location, enter the frame, and...start putting! Your location is tracked in real time and in three dimensions, allowing you to putt freely from pretty much anywhere within frame.
Each session has its own statistics and photo(s), which you can overlay with your putts' trajectories to visualize trends and identify problem areas. Cumulative statistics and graphs are also provided to track your progress over time!
Putt Buddy also includes Quick Measure, a tool that combines the accuracy of a tape measure with the speed of walking it off! Have you ever been on the putting green and wondered whether or not you're inside Circle 1? This update implements a boatload of huge, but mostly boring* updates, including:
-A substantially improved method of handling previous sessions and statistics to increase efficiency and lower Putt Buddy's resource consumption
-Tweaks some of the putting detection algorithms to improve accuracy
-Thermal monitoring during Putting Sessions with warnings for serious and critical device temperatures, which can reduce or absolutely trash performance, respectively
-Numerous bug fixes and minor improvements
*Don't worry, this boring update sets the stage for a bunch of exciting new statistics and upcoming features! Thank you all for the support.

Cool concept, doesn’t work well
I love the idea of this app, however I tried to use it about 10 times today and it only registered about 2-5% of my putts. It has trouble recognizing the putters and tracking me around my yard. It needs some refinement.

That is definitely not expected behavior and I totally understand the 1 star review if that’s the case!
If you wouldn’t mind reaching out, I’d like to get a bit more information from you so I can figure out what the issue is you are having. I’ll make sure to extend your free trial as well to ensure you get to try it as intended.
Based on my testing and what I’ve heard from other users, putts that aren’t detected at all should be extremely rare (<1%). I’ve also gotten multiple reports of ~95% accuracy with regard to make/miss determination, which is in line with my testing as well. I’m certainly hoping to improve both of those in the near future!
So needless to say, something is up! You can email me via the “Report a Problem” button in the app’s settings and I’ll make sure to help you fix the issue and improve the app so it doesn’t affect anyone in the future.

Compatibility issue
App Store shows it is compatible with my iPhone 12. This phone doesn’t have LiDAR technology, unable to use the app. You may want to fix this.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible for me to limit availability of Putt Buddy to only LiDAR-equipped phones. For this reason, I went out of my way to make it as obvious as possible, mentioning the limitation in the first sentence of the App Store description as well as within the app upon install. Sorry for the confusion!
I'm not looking to trick anyone and it shouldn't be possible for a user without a compatible phone to even pay for the app upon install! Instead of reaching a subscription wall, if you tap "Start Putting" with an incompatible device, it instead informs you of the limitation and offers an option to be notified when a compatible version is available.
I felt this approach was my best option given the limitations inherent within the App Store system. If you have any recommendation for how I can improve the experience further, I'm always eager to hear user feedback. Again, I'm not looking to deceive anyone and want the limitation to be as obvious as possible!

Beta testing ?
Tried to use on my iPhone 15. Needs lidar ? And not taking new testers.
Didn’t work once.

Oh man, you’re absolutely right about the beta for devices without LiDAR…the previous version expired. My apologies!
If you send me an email via the support link in the app (Settings -> Report a Problem), I’ll make sure you’re set up with a working version and 52x the free trial for you.
