Pythonista is a complete scripting environment for Python 3.10, running right on your iPad or iPhone, so you can develop and run Python scripts on the go.
Like Python itself, "batteries are included" – from popular third-party modules like requests, numpy, matplotlib, pandas (and many more) to modules that are tailor-made for iOS. With Pythonista, your scripts can access sensor/location data, your photo library, contacts, reminders, the clipboard, and more, allowing you to harness the full potential of both Python and iOS.
Pythonista is designed with a user-friendly interface that makes it easy for anyone to get started with coding, regardless of skill level. The complete Python documentation is also available for offline reading in the app.
Pythonista is not just for learning and practicing Python – it's also a powerful tool for automating iOS with multiple app extensions. You can invoke scripts directly from the share sheet or a custom system keyboard in almost any app, and integrate scripts with Shortcuts and Siri. With Pythonista, it's easy to run your scripts whenever you need them, without having to switch between different apps.
Features:
> Powerful code editor with syntax highlighting, code completion, and scripting support
> Interactive prompt with code completion, command history, and support for showing images
> Integrated visual debugger and object inspector
> Complete offline documentation with quick lookup directly from the editor
> Various beautiful light and dark color themes, and a theme editor to make your own
> UI editor for quick prototyping
> Integrated PEP 8 style checker and code formatter
> Supports most of the Python standard library and additional modules for graphics, sound, and iOS integration (for example clipboard, contacts, reminders, photos, ui...)
> Many popular third-party modules included, for example requests, numpy, matplotlib, pandas, Pillow...
> Lots of included examples
> Universal app for iPad and iPhone
> Share sheet extension for running scripts from almost any app
> Scriptable system-wide keyboard to use Python in any app that edits text
> Advanced integration with the Shortcuts app, allowing you to use Python scripts as actions in shortcuts and personal automations.
Please note that Pythonista is not designed to enable the installation or download of additional modules written in compiled languages (C/C++). While many popular native libraries are included and work out-of-the-box, it is generally not possible to install additional modules with C/C++ dependencies.

This is a fantastic app. I have been able to do a lot of work on my iPhone and iPad with it. It's reasonably intuitive to find tools and negotiate it to accomplish real goals. I would absolutely love to have some more libraries supported or at least have the ability to add them ourselves with pip. If I run out of space, I'd like that to be my concern :). Nice product folks. More expansively would be a huge delight. I bought it years ago, would pay a reasonable fee to get significantly enhanced capabilities. Not sure if PyTorch could fit on my 16 ProMax but I'd love to give it a try 🙏😁 I'll buy a new iPad if that's what it takes.
Absolutely the best Python IDE!!!

I love Pythonista, and have been using it for about 7 months now. It is as full featured as I could possibly hope for it to be (perhaps more so as it is on iOS and I am pretty stunned at how well it works while being locked down in a secured, chroot’d, containerized environment OS) and it allows for many third party plugins written by members of the community hoping to add more features to an already feature rich environment. There are MANY different places to seek a helping hand if you get lost or need assistance, and the developer is quite responsive, both via email support and on the OMZ forums. It may seem like a steep price for an app, but I honestly could only be more pleased if the app were opened up a bit more to allow API access from all different web services I use, but that is an Apple limitation and not something that the developer of this app is in control of, so it really is as good as it can be. If you’re a Python dev or even just dabbling and aspiring to become one, the is the program for you. The included features, help documentation, tutorials, and the help of the OMZ development team and the supporting community that frequents the forums really help to make this application the best, most useful that I have invested in since my first iPhone 4 introduced me to apps in the iOS App Store. Stop reading reviews, look how many 5 star ratings it has, buy this app, and start writing something amazing. You’ll get looks of disbelief when people hear that you developed and tested a good majority of your amazing application on an iPad or iPhone lol. You really will not be disappointed! 🤯
Awesome well polished product

Note to Atom/C who rated 1-star due to lack of turtle: Pythonista *has* turtle, just import it as you'd normally do with any other module. I know because in the free book Think Python (or was it Python for Absolute Beginners from CU?) they have exercises and I drew circles and shapes for the first time ever...which was pretty cool.------I bought this wanting to do some analysis that was not possible with any other apps in the AppStore (audio analysis). Without any experience I learned a bit and did what I wanted, but after being exposed to NumPy, I learned how much I liked Python's handle of things, started learning in tutorials, free books. I wouldn't have picked Python where not for Pythonista. The fact that it is ELEGANT, SIMPLE, ROBUST, PRETTY, STRAIGHTFORWARD, WELL THOUGHT OUT and maybe a few other things to praise is NOT enough. But I will leave it there. With so many hundreds of thousand apps in the App Store, I was about to abandon my iPad and relegate it to just "Netflix for my kids" and the occasional eBook and game. Pythonista is not free. I am glad it is as the maker wouldn't be charging for it if someone else footed his bills. I am glad I contributed a bit to this developer that has created the best programming tool for iOS, but I am doing no favor: this is the best scripting tool for iOS, maybe 30,000 miles ahead of anything else. While nothing is reinvented (ie. 90% of the praise is for Python itself) the way the app works is just great.Wishes are: more clarity of a working, updated versions of xcode...and in the future, scipy.
My most used app.

I’m a full time developer and I don’t know what I would do without Pythonista. For one, twice a week I go to our local hospital for my allergy shot. I have to sit there for 30 minutes after the shot. With Pythonista, I bring my iPad and I can keep on working on my Python apps that I’m creating. I get tired sitting at the computer. I can head over to the couch to sit with my pups, but on Big Bang Theory, and keep on working.Go outside on nice day, sit at the patio table and keep on programming. One one request. I know a lot of people prefer Git. I hate Git now that Microsoft purchased it. I use OpenSource Fossil. It would be GREAT to have the feature to be able to clone a repository using Fossil. I know there are a lot more people using Git. But, finger crossed if you add the feature, one more people would be aware how fantastic Fossil is and might start using and supporting OpenSource Fossil. Thanks in advance for any consideration on the Fossil feature!
