REC Switch 4+

I downloaded this to operate an REC light dimmer switch. It’s a pain to set up; most wireless routers work with 5G, and this does not. Once I got it connected it worked for a while, then came constant issues with it disconnecting from wifi. Now, I can’t even log into the app because it gives the error message “request time out. Please try again.” I have tried resetting the whole system, deleting and reinstalling the app, creating a new account, etc. Now, it just works like a normal dimmer switch I operate by hand. Looks like they just pushed out an update with “bug fixes” too. Oh, and don’t bother with app support. There is none. You click on it and it opens up a blank tab. What a joke.

I’ve had this for about two years and worked fine. Now suddenly it has a time out issue when I try to log in or do anything in the app. Meaning this light switch really only works if you use it like a normal light switch, completely defeating the purpose of it being a smart light switch. Unless they fix this I don’t recommend buying this light switch.

Got this is a gift. Hooked it up to the outlet we plug our Christmas tree to and it took all of 60 seconds to sign up for an account and link up the device.

I typed in an alphanumeric user name and it accepted it no problem. (It asks for it as letters/number/underline, which means you can use letters, numbers, and the _ character in your user name, seems some people had difficulty with this part🤷‍♂️).

I wish all these devices would just join the HomeKit protocol already. It’s a pain having to use different apps for different devices.
