Description

Reef Life Pro is the most comprehensive marine identification app available in the iOS app store.

This app is a free download and you can buy the group of species you would to explore.

Reef Life now boasts nearly 2,500 species, from 17 categories, that are fully documented and professionally photographed (3,300+).

This app is perfect for divers, snorkelers and aquarium enthusiast that would like to not only identify, but learn about our salt water friends.

Reef Life has GPS coordinates of more than 200 internally defined oceanic regions and sub regions. This update allows user to experience a much simplified process with the identification of species based on a specific location.

- You can select from 31 pre-defined menu based regions, examples “Caribbean Sea”, or “Australia, tropical” or “West coast USA” and see the species only from that region.

- You can manual drop “pins” on a location in our interactive map and search for species in that exact location. You can save as many searches as you wish in your “myPlaces” folder.

- You can even select the “species in my current location” option to see only the species which are located within in your current location.

Reef Life now offers users the ability to add their own species to the app. This includes the ability to:

- Add all details and images to each species

- You can also edit or update details of user created species.

3D Touch users can access all features quickly, as well as utilize our new "zoom view" on the image page. Press a location on the image you will see a zoom of just that spot.

Each menu can be toggled to display presented species either in a list view format or as a grid view, depending on individual preferences.

This advancement significantly simplifies the process of identifying marine life animals

Marine Life Conservation and Education are a priority as well. There are two major sections, 50+ pages covering all maters education and conservation.

This app is fully interactive and is based on Apple’s latest programming language, Swift.

*** As required by scuba divers *** This app is fully self contained and does not require an internet connection, making this the perfect buddy while on boats or in remote dive locations.

More button broken and inaccurate info

The button “More” crashes the app. Additionally, there are several species with incorrect information. For example, a common remora is listed as an Amphipod and I am unable to change it.

Developer Response ,

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your review. This is valuable information to help me provide the best app I can. The more button is fixed. You should have been able to update the app by now.
As for the incorrect species, I migrated from my previous database to WoRMS database format and found that some species got caught in the middle. If you see an inaccurate species, please email me from the app an I will correct immediately. Thank you, David

Disappointed

The screenshots for the app clearly show the ability to create a trip and add fish to it. I can save a location, but I cannot figure out how to create a specific trip. Even at the location level, I cannot figure out how to add fish to that location. I paid the money for the additional fish and features which is largely why I’m so disappointed. It is so close to being exactly what I wanted. I’m really frustrated right now because I saw a trumpet fish on my latest dive, so I searched trumpet fish. I found it, but when I click on it to add it to my favorites (at least I could track all the fish I’ve seen if this worked), but I click on it and it shows me an anemone over and over, so I can’t favorite it. :/ money wasted

Developer Response ,

Hi Rayten,
I understand your frustration and apologize about this frustration. There is a known issue with the search and I am updating the app now.

As for the process of marking a dive location, and see the species of that location, please send me a note and I will communicate via email with you about this.

I will provide you with better details and will be able to understand how to better explain the process.

Thank you,
David

App broken!

I just downloaded this app today, 8/6/22, since it’s free with all packs free for a limited time, and after downloading it, I opened it, and it refused to open when I tried opening it. I tried several times and it still refused to open. What’s with that?? I have an iPhone 13 pro max with the latest update, so ??? I also noticed that this app hasn’t been updated for 2 years now. Maybe that’s the problem? Please fix! Thanks! Will change stars once I can use the app and see what it’s like.
