Ratings and Reviews
Underrated game
I am a veteran when it comes to hero collectors. I really love Rivengard. The art, characters and gameplay all stood out from the crowd. The special abilities really pop off the screen and feel impactful when used. I am not a frequent spender in games I do play. The market has been saturated by companies trying to bleed their fan base dry with awful deals *cough cough* marvel strike force.. I am pleased to say Rivengard has had good deals which is a nice change of pace in the genre. I am really looking forward to the future of this game. I hope the devs have a marketing strategy planned because Rivengard has all the makings of a successful game.
Great on the Outside, Rotten on the Inside
As I and a lot of other reviews here agree, the game is great on the outside. Graphics, characters, boards etc.. but once you start the grind of leveling these characters you start to feel like “ok is a grindy kind of game, but it’s fun so not bad.” Unfortunately, it is grindy and bad!
The grind in this game is almost impossible! I get the devs don’t want all the pay to play peeps to get everything and be bored but I don’t even see how they can do it!! Seriously here is a legit breakdown.. one character let’s say is an Uncommon. This character comes in at 1⭐️. To raise its star it takes some emblems, no biggie. Get it to 2⭐️ then three with the emblem amount increased each time. No issue just quick raid each level right... nope. Only 10 a day! But, let’s say you get to 4⭐️, now it’s time to “evolve” to rare. This takes a new set of emblems (rarer drop) and two other ingredients that can, you guessed it only be purchased or dropped from a different mode that you get three attempts a day, good luck!
This all wouldn’t be bad if it didn’t keep you from leveling up characters past a certain level (Uncommon capped at 17) which in turn makes clearing stages eventually halt! Sadly, this will happen and all you are stuck doing is daily achievements to get 10 tokens to hopefully draw some luck out of a 10 summon. It’s really off balance for any player tbh. Devs need to listen and fix some of these issues. The game is broken.
Could be fun if it wasn’t so buggy
I’m a big fan of turn based strategy, so this game was very fun initially, but as I’ve played for over a year now I’ve watched the game get worse and worse. In the past three months I’ve dealt with bugs around the energy and ticketing system almost weekly, and their support team hasn’t done anything to fix the problem. It’s especially frustrating in the middle of their tournaments, as I’ve been knocked out of strong positions with no support received when I reached out.
Most recently they changed the game so internet is required to play. I was hoping this would fix the problems, as their support team said their issues were around syncing when I played offline, but I’m still having the same problems, as well as a whole host of new problems where the game won’t recognize my internet. Hoping this review will help others avoid getting invested in a game that doesn’t support its players or correct for the impact of its bugs.
