RTTy is a native network monitor for the Mac. It measures latency, jitter, and packet loss continuously, shows them in a compact menu bar chart and a full dashboard, and keeps a local history so you can see what changed and when.
MEASUREMENT
• Real ICMP round-trip timing to your default gateway and your IPv4 system resolvers, plus clearly labeled TCP checks for IPv6 resolvers and for the services you choose
• Jitter, packet loss, and connection-health timelines that keep every time slot — a lost probe stays a full-height marker instead of vanishing from history
• Charts stay contiguous at any probe cadence, because a bucket is never made finer than the evidence that has to fill it
• Targets discovered from your own network, plus a reviewed catalog of app and service checks that are visible and individually disableable before any of them runs
• Alerts on absolute latency, on deviation from the recent baseline, and on loss
MENU BAR
• Latency heatmap and rolling average, monochrome and transparent, sized like a CPU meter
• Chart, average, and throughput display modes, with preset and custom widths
• A dropdown with a history chart and live metrics for every target, painted in the same appearance as the dashboard
DASHBOARD
• Raw and smoothed latency lines, spike and loss bands, and a latency heatmap
• Per-interface bandwidth, including a bidirectional heatmap with separate upload and download lanes
• Wi-Fi and wired connection health over time
• Network context: the active interface, the default gateway, your system resolvers, and DNS search domains
• History from minutes to days, with exact From/To incident selection and a complete report export
• Two built-in App Shortcuts open the dashboard or Settings from the Shortcuts app
MONITORING MODES
• Active probes normally. Passive originates nothing at all — no echo, no connect, no lookup — and keeps observing interface counters, routes, resolvers, and radio state. Automatic starts active and falls back to passive when it sees a network that should not be probed: enterprise Wi-Fi, a configured proxy, a PAC file, or ICMP filtered while TCP still answers. Whatever it saw is named on screen, including signals it judged insufficient.

ICLOUD
• When your Mac is signed in to iCloud, RTTy keeps your settings and a small health summary for each Mac in your own private iCloud database, so a second Mac starts where the first one left off. Nothing is sent to the developer, and Settings lets you save, load, or reset RTTy's iCloud data.
HONEST MEASUREMENTS
An unavailable, filtered, or rate-limited probe is shown as its own state, never as packet loss. Missing samples stay missing; RTTy does not fill a gap with an estimate. Path MTU discovery and per-application traffic attribution are not part of this build.
