School of Rock Method 4+

Pretty good app, can access all the music my son works on, and the library is searchable for song his band isn’t playing if he wants to try other stuff on his own. Neat how it grades his tone and rhythm for homework recordings, though sometimes inaccurate.

But we REALLY need the ability to use a pen tool to write on the sheet music AND be able to PRINT out the sheet music! He struggles sometimes without us being able to provide “cheat notes” above certain sections. Having simple cheat notes (like Chorus: AGEDG, Verse: CGE CGD x3) for Rookies and Rock 101 would be helpful for total beginners too.

I also wish the “choose a different instrument” pull down in top right corner was available on the sheet music assigned from his teacher. It’s only available when you search for that same song in the content library. He sometimes wants to learn the vocals, even though he’s a keyboardist. It’s an awkward few extra steps to do so right now, including typing in the song name.

I downloaded this app 39 years ago, I got married, gave birth, died, revived. When I came back to the app, my whole life changed. I realized how incredible it was. I was remarried to my wife Karen, and started a small band you may know as ‘Weezer’, we quickly grew and became slightly bigger. Then, I became obsessed… my wife, hated my obsession… she said I was yelling too much because of my hearing loss from learning guitar with no earplugs. My own children were scared of what I had become. I was soon sent to rehab, and it changed everything! I was a brand new man! Everything was amazing, I got a new job, grew my relationship with my kids, my wife and I went on date nights. That is until… well… the app… it lurked in my nightmares… every night I would have a dream… and it would slowly get closer. I couldnt make it stop… and I couldn’t stop myself. All I did for 5 1/2 months was use this app. I didn’t eat sleep or drink anything. I sent myself back to rehab and have gotten better. But while I was in a manic state, my wife divorced me, the kids don’t want to see me anymore. I don’t even get visitation. This app is amazing, just make sure you have alot of self control. Karen, if you see this, please let me see the kids for Christmas, I am sorry.

I use this app pretty frequently since I am a SOR student, and it does the job, but needs some fixes. For one it would be useful to be able to print things. Also, the score is very inaccurate, and could give you a 100 even if you were playing a completely different song or a 40 if you did it perfectly. Another thing is it makes you sign in for some reason. It also is best on iPad rather that iPhone although I don’t know if the majority of people use iPhone or iPad. The last thing is that is the app runs kinda slow overall.
