Add intrigue, betrayal, and hidden goals to any pirate board game — without changing the game itself. Secret Pirate Code is a companion app that transforms any pirate-themed board game into a tense social experience full of secrets, double agents, and private objectives. No extra cards, no rule changes — just phones on the table and hidden motives in every decision. The app manages all secret information during the game: roles, hidden objectives, triggers, and encrypted messages — while the physical board game stays exactly the same. Key Features 3–8 players Local multiplayer everyone plays at the same table No constant internet required after download Compatible with any pirate board game or a universal mode Game Setup & Session Creation One player becomes the Host and creates a new session. The Host sets: Number of players Game mode: Cooperative (with a possible traitor) Everyone for themselves Estimated game length: Short / Medium / Long controls how often secret events appear Player Connection Each player: Enters a name or nickname Chooses a pirate-themed avatar portrait, flag, or icon Players join the session via: QR code from the Host’s screen, or Short session code 4–6 characters Board Game Settings Before starting, the Host selects: Which board game is being played or use Universal Mode for any game Optional systems that can be enabled or disabled: Hidden traitors Encrypted secret messages Random personal challenges (secret mini-quests) Secret Roles & Hidden Objectives At the start of the game, the app secretly assigns each player a role and individual objectives. Example Roles Loyal Pirate Goal: Help the crew achieve overall victory according to the board game’s rules. Crown Spy Goal: Secretly weaken the pirates — sabotage plans, provoke conflicts, waste resources. Wins if the crew clearly loses or ends the game severely weakened. Smuggler Goal: Secretly collect specific resources (gold, chest, rum) and move them through ports and islands. Cultist of the Sea God Goal: Spread chaos, provoke storms or curses (within board game rules), and push the crew toward risky decisions. Each role includes: A short behavioral description Clear hidden goals Unique incentives that may conflict with the crew All role information is private and visible only on the player’s device. Encrypted Messaging System Players can exchange secret messages without using text. Choosing a Recipient Messages can be sent to: A specific player Everyone in encrypted form A secret faction if applicable Message Builder Instead of words, players use icons: Ship, cannon, treasure, skull, storm, port, compass, and more Example combinations: Storm + Port + Skull — “The port is dangerous” Gold + Arrow + Chest — “Treasure lies in that direction” Message Decoding Some roles receive hints about what certain symbol combinations mean (e.g. Crown Spies may see: “Secret code: Storm + Crown = the King’s fleet is approaching”) Other players see only the symbols and must interpret them themselves Restrictions Message limits per round prevent spam The entire messaging system can be disabled in settings Why Use Secret Pirate Code Adds social deduction and tension to any pirate board game Encourages bluffing, secret alliances, and betrayal No physical components required Perfect for players who enjoy hidden roles and mind games Secret Pirate Code Trust no one.
