Description

SEGRA is an engaging app for kids learning to read. No in-app purchases or ads! Fun pictures, songs, and actions plus 19 different games to play and achievements to earn!

SEGRA - Successful Early Grade Reading Ability - is designed to assist the learning process in a fun and engaging way! No in-app purchases or ads!

Based around the concept of a friendly anthill in a lush forest setting, the letter sounds are split into groups placed in different rooms in the anthill, starting with the more common sounds in the first group. Each sound is brought to life by a unique picture, word, rhyme song and video action! There are also exercises to practise writing the different letters. SEGRA provides different tools suitable for different learning styles: listening, speaking, writing, reading and doing!

Finishing a group of sounds opens up a new room with games, where the new skills are used. Blending of sounds into words starts when the first two groups of sounds are completed. The technique is illustrated by a blending bird, which can also be dragged manually for additional training.

Help the ants unlock all the rooms by completing games and exercises! Players gain achievements for exceptional results to motivate repetition. The goal of SEGRA is that every pupil will learn to read!

Writing exercises can be skipped, for those looking to learn the sounds but may already be able to write the letters. The app can in this way be used to pick up English as a second language!

Practise the alphabet and all letter sounds. Play 19 different games in total!

SEGRA is based on proven teaching and learning materials and techniques, designed by four teachers who are also established authors. The four teachers are: Kerstin Beskow Schölin, Christina Jansson, Ann Johansson and Carina Ring. They have all worked with early grade reading ability for at least thirty years!

What’s New

Version 1.1.1

This version updates the visual design of the anthill on the start screen. The new layout makes it easier to navigate and find the letters and exercises you're looking for.
We hope that these changes will make our app an even more effective tool for helping children to learn to read.

This update also fixes an issue that could cause the app to crash when starting the 'Guess The Letter' game.
