Simple music sketchbook tool Description sequencism is a music sketchbook tool that allows the creation of short and simple pieces of music. It is designed to provide a traditional user interface of track and piano roll editors, while taking advantage of the touch-screen capabilities of the iPad. It also includes other helper tools, such as chord helper tracks. Note that the main goal of this app is to work as a sketchbook, thus it is not recommended to use sequencism to produce complex songs or to play songs live on stage. Features • Simple track mixer and visual mixer (volume, pan) • Multitrack editor: MIDI instrument tracks, chord helper tracks • Support for SF2* and AUv3 instruments (*lightweight SF2 files only) • AUv3 Effects support • AU MIDI support for instruments and effects • Piano roll editor: add, move, copy notes within blocks • MIDI keyboard, supports multiple scales, including user-defined scales • Support for diatonic and chromatic chords, borrowed chords (modal interchange) • Automatic transposing when changing chords or scales • Supports Audiobus 3 and Ableton Link • Support for MIDI keyboards, including Bluetooth keyboards • Export to MIDI Planned features • Undo, Redo • Automation • Import MIDI files (improve existing support) --------- AUv3 instruments requires iPad Mini 2, iPad 4 or newer. This app is another take on a method for playing with song ideas based on chord progressions and scales. There are many apps that do various aspects of this but this one attempts to simplify the user interface and streamline it. I think it works well in that regard. This is why I rate it highly. I does exactly what it says it will for you.Like almost all other apps in this class it does a poor job of allowing you to import/transfer your work from other apps. It has a very minimal MIDI file reader that does not even know how to break a file down into tracks. It just dumps all the note data into one track. I would love to see an approach to reading MIDI files in this app like the one in Synthesia but with more control and auto detection of key changes and chord progressions. There is no app that I can find that does this so it might provide a nice reason to spend $$$ on this app. I would be happy to pay for an app extension that does MIDI file import and true analysis and mining of good “ideas” in a MIDI file. Bonus point for support of those old “INS” instrument definition files as a way to translate the MIDI data.Also - support for the SFZ standard would be nice.

In fact, it’s good. It’s just not anything you might want in your head, but thats not where we’re at. As someone who is garbage at making apps but understands the struggle for doing, thanks so much for giving this project of yours for free. Keep it up.

Very useful for sketching song

This app is very user friendly and useful for sketching out music ideas. I like that in addition to built in sound fonts you can also load in AU instruments from other apps. Thank you to the generous developer for sharing this tool for free.
