Description

(NOTE: This free trial version is fully functional, but has a maximum limit of 10 Patterns)

Have you ever tried going on a shopping spree for new fabrics (in physical stores or online), only to feel completely lost by not knowing exactly how you would use that nice-looking piece of fabric, and end up purchasing the wrong thing - or purchasing the right thing, but in the wrong quantity - or worse, still: Leaving empty-handed?

If your answer is "yes", then Sewing Patterns will be your indispensable companion in the future. The inspiration in the form of your pattern library is right at your fingertips, wherever you go, and you can easily make sure that you purchase the right fabric in the right quantity - and with the right accessories. The app also helps you find inspiration on how to best make use of your current stash of fabric.

The app lets you gain the perfect overview in a single place, whether your patterns are purchased, found in magazines, or your own creations entirely. You can categorize your patterns based from standard garment types, or create as many of your own categories as you like. You can have your patterns sorted alphabetically, by most recent usage, or in any particular order you like. Each pattern can be associated with as many categories as you wish.

It is entirely up to you how many details you want to register for your individual patterns, but the more details you supply, the more help you will find in the built-in filtering function. When browsing your patterns, only the filled-in information is shown, so you won't have to deal with lots of empy fields.

Using the camera, you can supply your pattern details with pictures of the model, the instructions, or perhaps of the finalized garments. You can add as many pictures and PDF files as you like, both for your categories, your patterns and your fabrics.

Use the Filter function if you need to search for a specific pattern in your pattern library, or just need inspiration for your next project, based on a specific piece of fabric.

In all aspects, Sewing Patterns is an indispensable app, for the experienced seamstress and the newcomer alike!

This app seems to work!

I have been looking for a good pattern library. This one seems work pretty well so far. I have just added first 10 patterns of many many patterns. I have over 500 to enter. That will mean changing to the $ version. Will I be able to import the already added pattern to the paid version? I like the size of the thumbnail picture (great for my aging eyes). Would like to see a way to look up specific items several ways (like by source or fabric type or star rating).

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for your review! Yes, you will be able to move your patterns from the Lite version to the paid version. When using the Filter option, you should be able look up your patterns based on source, fabric type, star rating and actually anything else - or a combination of those.

Best regards,
Claus

not for me

i really need a pattern library app i can use that doesn’t make me waste twenty minutes to get a good photo of a pattern. i really wanted this to work, but it doesn’t suffice. so i’m glad they offer the free version to try it out. if they fix the photo issue so that you can either use the entire photo or crop it how you want then maybe i will reconsider. the way it is now, you take a photo not knowing which portion of the photo they are going to use, then you see a crop box but aren’t able to actually move the photo so that it’s centered in the box. you can zoom in and make it get cut off, but not move the box where it needs to be. it’s not the right shape for a pattern packet, and it doesn’t help at all when trying to zoom in on the back details. they need to show the crop box when you’re taking the photo or allow you to move and resize to fit as needed. it would also be nice to have a pattern company and number option since i sort by that. i do like that you can add categories and add one pattern to several different ones. but the time it is taking me to add one pattern is making it obvious that my entire collection would take weeks, and i’m trying to save myself time and misery.

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry to hear the photo capabilities don't suit your needs. When you take a photo in the app, the crop that you do is only used as the thumbnail to be shown in e.g. the Pattern list. The entire photo is stored as well, so when you tap a thumbnail, the full photo will be shown, in which you can pan and zoom as you like.

Also, even if the crop box is fixed when you have taken your photo, you should be able to move any part of the photo into the box quite easily, by panning and zooming.

Your suggestions for Pattern Company and Number have been put on my list for future improvements.

Best regards,
Claus

Works nicely

This app works nicely and seems to include a lot of details include fabric yardage, etc. however I would love an option to create my own categories instead of only being able to add subcategories under what is already listed. The only editing option I see on the main categories is to delete them.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review! You can create any Categories you like (not just subcategories), by tapping the “+” icon on the Categories screen. Best regards, Claus
