Good App

Just worked my first shift as a new CNA. Honestly, my experience so far has been great. The communication within the app works fairly well as I get a response within 36 hours, so it could be faster. The credentials, although tedious, are worth it because I loved training to be a CNA and I look forward to the work most of the time. But one thing about the credentials is that the additional ones are sometimes required by facilities or else you wont get as good jobs so I think they just should not have additional ones and just add them to the regular ones. Its easy to pick up shifts and to call out or cancel. They should make it easier to change your work location though as I am also a student at VCU in Richmond and I primarily live near DC so there is a lot of traveling that I do and I can’t change my primary work vacation even though I am certified all across VA.

Been with them a year

I use several other agencies in addition to Shiftmed and feel qualified to give an accurate, unbiased review. The app is user-friendly and intuitive. It is easy to adjust the search parameters like location, pay $, dates, shifts. Clocking in and out is also simple although recently over the past week, I’ve had issue with clocking in, the button I tap to “clock in” does not seem to work. I really like the ‘next day pay’ feature, wherein you work a shift and can get paid 50% the next day. If you enjoy working for yourself and getting to choose when and where you work, this is the perfect agency for you.
A suggestion for improvement: I will often notice that other staffing agencies are offering several dollars more per hour in wages than Shiftmed for work at the same facility. If Shiftmed could boost their pay by jusr $2-$3 dollars per hour, they would be more competitive with other agencies and people would be more likely work more shifts through them. At the same time, those other possibly higher-paying agencies are still requiring things like hand-filling out a time slip and faxing it at the end of each week. ShiftMed is more simple and does not have any kind of hassle like that. Also, the higher-paying agencies have higher cancellation rates, their lists of available shifts aren’t as up to date. Shiftmed has a very low cancellation rate and the shifts you select will almost always be up to date.

A COMPLETE JOKE

I would give zero stars if I could. Myself like others are looking to work agency, as it’s flexible and less stress. I am stressed just trying to complete my onboarding. You have to pay everything out of pocket, which most of us do not have extra funds. I did a screening for another job that the facility paid for and they gave me access to my medical records, so I submitted that to ShiftMed to give them a try. I have been going back and forth since August to be able to pick up shifts and it’s a run around. They say everything is complete then turn around saying I need to submit more documents, I just keep resubmitting the same information than get ran through agent. I had created my account years ago as a new CNA, but was not comfortable giving this a try. My certification in the system is expired and they fail to update it to my current certification, than give me a ring around that I am no longer certified which is false. This has been more of a hassle than anything. Three months to complete onboarding and it’s still a run around when I have provided all the necessary information. This company is disorganized and a joke for the patients that need care.

Horrible communication!!!!

The only reason why I’m giving them 1 star is because I can’t give 0 star. The process of starting to work with this company is a real headache. The representative was I had was just horrible. I had issues uploading some documents and there’s absolutely no number to call so I can get some guidance, instead there’s a chat box that shows that someone is active but they don’t respond in a timely manner. I ask questions and I get one response which is not sufficient and not helpful to my question. It’s like they are short staffed and are limited to answering only one question. Then you have to sign up to schedule a call which almost never happens. If you are going to sign up to work for this company BE SURE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY SINGLE THING!!! Because if you are looking for their assistance you will never get it. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone just imagine how it is when you actually start working. Also the only number they have available is if you are calling off and with that being said they DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES.

Illegal and Disorganized

1. ShiftMed refuses to pay for basic pre-screening like TB tests they and the facilities require which is by OSHA regulation illegal.
2. Awful communication: you will interact with several different people within the same day and have to start the conversation over with every single person. No one makes an effort to understand you and even when they finally do their job like reach out to facilities etc; they do not follow up.
3. No one knows how to do their job. There’s a level of redundancy within this company that is mind boggling. The only thing they’re successful at is reaching out to pedantically stay on top of you to do stuff *for them*, without assistance, without compensation, and regardless of what you’ve already informed them you’re working on they will send you the same basic message to repeat things you’ve already done.
4. You can level with them and try to keep them updated and they will gaslight you, telling you how wrong you are even though you are just relaying the information you have.

6 Months In

Once I was through onboarding and at the facility everything has been great.

The onboarding piece was a headache. I had been given contact information for someone who acted unprofessional and was not helpful. Months into trying to onboard I was making phone calls myself trying to get things submitted and he messaged to let me know he was doing everything I can and basically laughed at me saying what I was doing was unnecessary.

I randomly got a call one day from someone with Shiftmed (the day after being told I was wasting my time self advocating) who asked if I had considered when I’d like to start picking up shifts. I explained my situation to her and was onboarded within 24 hours. She’s been my point of contact since and I have no complaints. If you’re having a bad experience consider you might just have a lousy point of contact.

Rate is alway not accurate do your math ppl

Shift med app is always incorrect with pay. It’s very upsetting when you see a 12 hr shift and they post way below as if a person do not know how to count there money. A 12hr shift in California is 8 hrs and time and a half pay. Shiftmed would post a 12 hr shift for $280 witch is incorrect for a rate like $24 or $54 an higher. And when you question them about they’ll tel you the app doesn’t calculate like that. But you will receive your correct pay. Lies if you don’t question them about they will keep your hard earn money. This is not a 1099 this is a W-2 we’re paying taxes and to lie about pay after working a double or a 12hr shift will result in a law suit and labor broad for further investigation. This agency think we’re dumb ppl. Wake and count your pay and rate and times it by 1.5 and you’ll see your real rate and what they are keeping out of your money.

Great company and equally great app!

I’ve been working at ShiftMed for almost 2 years now and they are by far the best agency I’ve worked for. They actually care about YOU whereas IntelyCare only cares about their reputation with the facilities they staff. Super user friendly app, in comparison to Gale, DNA, ShiftKey, Grapetree, I could go on but you get it. Only problems I come in contact with a lot are if I’m clocked in past when my shift is over, it’ll act like I had already clocked out and the supervisors will have issues clicking the drop down to sign me out. Really easy fix for the first one- just close out the app and open it back up and you’ll be clocked in. The second one is just a little tedious for the supervisors but it may also just be my phone.

Fast response

The only shift i have been to, the nurse sent me home saying they no longer use Shiftmed and don’t understand why they keep sending nurses. To Shiftmed’s credit they corrected the problem pretty quickly and paid me for the two hours for going out there. It seems there was a problem with cooperate of the facility I was sent to. I have been unable to work with them as there is not a lot of shifts in my area. I am hoping they will continue to grow. They have someone 24 hours to handle any issues you may encounter. I appreciate I was just paid without having to make follow up phone calls.

I will be contacting small claims court! Terrible experience

If I could give this service a 0 star I absolutely would,

ChatGPT
If I could give this app 0 stars I would.

because my experience with Medshift has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I signed up, I was hopeful that this app would provide a convenient way for healthcare workers like myself to book shifts at various facilities. Unfortunately, it has been a complete disaster.

One of the major issues I encountered with Medshift was their complete lack of accountability. They had the audacity to claim that I didn't actually work a shift that I had booked through their app. This was not only insulting but also completely untrue. I had to jump through hoops to provide evidence of my presence and hours worked, only to be met with indifference from their customer service team. They have still yet to pay me for that shift.

Speaking of customer service, it was virtually nonexistent. The so-called "support" provided by Medshift was nothing more than a black hole of frustration. I attempted to contact them multiple times through their designated phone line, but to no avail. It seemed as though their phone line was conveniently always busy or simply ignored my calls. It's infuriating to think that a service that relies so heavily on communication would have such abysmal customer support.
