Ratings and Reviews
Easy, Fun App!
Our family knows a little sign language but we often forget, and this is a fantastic refresher that covers a lot of signs. I love that kids were involved in its creation, and it is easy to use for kids and adults alike. It makes us want to learn more - now that’s a testament to a great educational tool!!!
Missing a few details
This app has many great attributes however, in my opinion it is missing a few items that could move this app from good to great! The first being you do not have ASL anywhere in the description or name, therefore, your app does not cross reference with people searching with the proper name or acronym. In addition because it does not have ASL it is unclear as to what form of sign language is being taught. Next when the words are being taught by the children some of the kids are very fast and sloppy with the words, making it hard to teach kids the proper form. In the same section in addition to being fast there is no way to slow down the video or repeat the words.
In my opinion prior to beginning the kids should teach the learner the proper hand positions and locations. Once a child starts signing incorrectly as their vocabulary increased it creates bigger and bigger issues with being understood. Lastly, I would love to see an adult demonstrating the proper form and sign for the learners as well as the children teachers. This will reinforce the proper way as well as expose the learner to what a child looks like signing the same word. As with any language the more you do it the cleaner and better understood you are. In my view this would be like having a kindergartner teach a kindergarten class on the identification of animals. They might not be wrong however, the adult will be a stronger example.
Perfect app for kids wanting to learn sign language
What an innovative way to learn sign language! Kids of all ages and developmental levels will delight in the songs, games and images which all come together to teach, but most of all engage the user. Thank you for a great app!
