Simple is a good, basic, no frills mileage app. And it is free. Can’t beat that, right?A quick note: if you are like me and conserve battery by periodically swiping up on all your apps running in the “background”, think twice about closing Simple. It will NOT auto track if the app is not running. If you’ve ever used QuickBooks Self Employed, you probably got used to — as I have — the app tracking absolutely every trip, no matter what. Simple will not do this. When I inquired as to why, Jianming from customer support said that it technically violates user privacy to track when the app is closed; which I can respect, even if a bit inconvenient for my needs.Lastly, if you do have any issues, contact customer support. They will respond in a timely fashion and they are there to help.

A recent update takes away the “free” part of this app. You now have 40 drives per month and after that you need to pay $4.99/month to use the app with unlimited drives/logging or pay a discounted annual fee. The best part about this is that the update didn’t mention it would change this app to a freemium model. If you look at the version history, it’s not mentioned ANYWHERE. The devs aren’t even honest enough to tell us they are changing it until you open the app and see the prompts regarding the new 40 drive limit. I’ve been using this all year and now I either pay monthly or have an incomplete mileage log for the rest of the year.Edit 2: The original developer response has been replaced with a new and much kinder response. While I appreciate the words, the initial move to a premium model was done in the middle of the month without notice in an update to cause panic so everyone upgraded. It’s dishonest. Along with the now deleted original response that was very rude, I have switched to MileIQ now and am not going to switch again. Good luck to SherpaShare and getting rid of the guy who was rudely responding to all negative reviews. But you’ve lost my business. Too little, too late. Edit: Developer is responding rudely to people leaving a negative review. What upsets me is that the new pay model was added without mentioning it anywhere. The update mentioned bug fixes and we got switched to a freemium model without any warning at all. It’s dishonest and that’s what upsets people like me. Seeing the dev respond to our reviews as rudely as he/she is further cements my decision to switch to another app in which honesty and respect are at the forefront of the service. Avoid this dev (SherpaShare) at all costs! Try out MileIQ. They’re honest and worth the money!

The app is great. It tracks my driving and the interface is clean and easy. On its use and function I have no problems. It’s seriously great. My only issue is that it just eats my battery. The battery app lists background activity and closing the app doesn’t help. In fact, I’ve closed it, gotten the pop up notification that it won’t track again until I open it, yet I then go someplace and it has tracked the drive. So it appears to still be running in the background even after closing it. I’m still using it but have bought a battery case as I’m not always able to plug into a charger. So one star off for that.

Please add the ability to 3D Touch on trip end notifications to categorize the trip right within the notification. Everlance has this feature and it makes it much easier to get it done without having to open the app. Lastly, I find that if you have a lot of drives from the months prior to the usage of this app, it’s really inconvenient to add them, like the interface for it sometimes acts like it saves the trips but then when you refresh the page they’re all gone. I had this happen to me after adding over two and a half months worth of trips manually. Otherwise the app does a good job of tracking mileage.
