Fast, clean viewer for docs and code
I bought this back when it was called Smackdown for 5 bucks. It did Markdown well. The Telescopo update is huge, and existing users got it free.
On my MacBook Air M2, big PDFs open instantly. A 500 page manual pops open with no spinner. EPUBs show proper chapters and fonts. My Python and Rust files have clean syntax highlighting. Mermaid and PlantUML diagrams render exactly like in my docs. Search is quick and Enter jumps to the next hit. Shortcuts are everywhere and consistent.
Tabs and multi window support are excellent. I keep a long PDF in one window and flip through notes in a tabbed window, and it all feels native and smooth. The cyberpunk theme is great for late night reading.
So far it has handled everything I tried: md, pdf, epub, swift, rust, py, json.
Small wish: add annotation and highlighting for PDFs and EPUBs, and consider LaTeX diagram support in the future.
If you read docs or code on a Mac, this is an easy 5 stars. Telescopo turned a niche viewer into a fast, polished tool without charging me again.
Can’t select .md files
I was a bit surprised that I couldn't select files with the suffix ".md" in the file selection dialog.
