Fake product photos, staged news pictures, generated profile portraits, and deepfakes spread faster than they can be debunked. SourceCheck is a practical tool for that world: a fake photo checker, an AI image detector, and a full provenance inspector in one place. VERIFY CONTENT CREDENTIALS (C2PA) SourceCheck reads and cryptographically verifies C2PA Content Credentials, the provenance standard backed by Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Leica, and Sony. You see who signed the file, which tool produced it, and whether a single byte changed since signing. Signatures are validated against the official C2PA trust list, so a forged or self-signed manifest cannot pose as a trusted one. CLEAR VERDICTS, NOT GUESSWORK Every file gets one of seven plain verdicts: Verified, AI-Generated, AI Traces Found, Valid Signature, Signature Invalid, Credentials Present, or No Credentials. Each verdict explains what was checked and what it means, so you judge the evidence yourself. AI IMAGE DETECTION (PRO) An on-device classifier estimates how likely an image is AI generated. In our benchmark it flagged 94 of 105 recent images with zero false alarms on 75 verified camera photos. The score is a strong hint, not proof, and the app says so honestly. DEEP ANALYSIS (PRO) Watermark scan finds durable TrustMark watermarks that survive resizing and recompression. JPEG forensics runs error level analysis to highlight regions that differ from the rest of the image, a common sign of local edits. Encoder fingerprints reveal whether a file came from a camera or from editing software. METADATA, DECODED EXIF, XMP, and IPTC in readable form: capture date, camera model, GPS presence, software fields, and the traces AI tools leave behind in PNG and JPEG files.
