iPhone
Live aurora probability from NOAA OVATION, real-time moon phase, sunrise/sunset, and the next decade of solar and lunar eclipses on a tappable map.
Spacespace is a fast, focused celestial tracker for iPhone. Open it and you see exactly what's happening in the sky above you — phase of the Moon, position of the Sun, aurora chances tonight, and every upcoming eclipse you can plan for.
THREE TABS, ONE TAP AWAY
• Moon — current phase with a rendered lunar disc, illumination percentage, moonrise and moonset, distance from Earth, moon age, altitude, azimuth, zodiac sign, and the next full and new moons.
• Sun — sunrise, sunset, day length, solar noon, plus the Sun's altitude and azimuth right now.
• Auroras — local aurora probability for your GPS position, derived from NOAA SWPC's OVATION model, with current planetary K-index and a 3-day geomagnetic outlook in plain language.
ECLIPSES YOU CAN ACTUALLY PLAN FOR
The Moon and Sun tabs each list the next upcoming eclipses. Tap any one to open a detail view with a static MapKit snapshot. Solar eclipses show the totality band traced from NASA GSFC catalog data. Lunar eclipses show world visibility — never a fake "path line."
AURORA ALERTS, NOT NOTIFICATIONS SPAM
When the planetary K-index crosses into "Likely" territory, Spacespace nudges you with a single local notification — opt in once, and you'll know when it's worth stepping outside. No marketing pings, no daily reminders.
BUILT NATIVE FOR iOS 26
Liquid Glass tab bar, MapKit overlays, Core Location, Swift concurrency. The whole app is iPhone-first and designed to load instantly on launch — no marketing splash, no sign-up, no tracker SDKs.
PRIVACY FIRST
Your location is processed on-device. Coordinates are bucketed (rounded) before being used as cache keys and never sent to third-party providers. Aurora data is fetched from NOAA's public endpoints without any identifying information attached. The app collects only crash diagnostics — Analytics is disabled.
DATA SOURCES
• NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (OVATION aurora model, planetary K-index, 3-day forecast)
• NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (Five Millennium Catalog of Solar and Lunar Eclipses)
• Apple MapKit (eclipse path snapshots)
• Local astronomical computation for the Moon's phase, age, zodiac, and the Sun's position
Spacespace is free to use, has no subscriptions, no ads, and no in-app purchases.
