Starting a bill is simpler. The receipt step now fits on one screen, and Smart Receipt Scanning and typing it in yourself sit side by side, so it is obvious you can always do it by hand for free. You now choose who pays for a scan. One tick box decides whether the $0.99 is split with the table or covered by you — set it before you scan, change it afterwards, and every share updates to match. Backing out of a bill you never entered anything into no longer leaves an empty draft behind.

Split Crew now has written terms of service, alongside the privacy policy — what the app is, what it is not, and the rules of using it. Both are linked from the bottom of Settings whenever you want to re-read them.

Bug fixes.

A proper welcome • Opening Split Crew for the first time now walks you through a quick setup, instead of dropping you on an empty screen. • Your name goes on every bill you start, and your Venmo handle goes on the share card — so the crew can pay you back with a tap. • Both stay yours to change any time in Settings. An honest scan card • Reinstalling the app used to offer you a free scan you had already used. It now checks with your Apple account first, so what the card says is what you get. • A scan the admin has given you now shows up as waiting for you, instead of being a surprise. • Given scans are tied to your Apple account, so they follow you to a new phone.

The scan fee is now its own line on the receipt. It sits alongside tax and tip, gets split with the table the same way, and is no longer folded into a general "fees" total — so every part of the bill is accounted for on screen. Bills you created in the previous version are updated automatically. Also in this update: • Tap the receipt photo to open it full screen and pinch to zoom. • A new Change log in Settings shows what changed in each version. • Settings now shows the exact version and build you are running. • Removed an unnecessary prompt when assigning items to someone who arrived late.
