Great All-Around

Hey, the main reason I’m leaving this review is because of the widget you guys have. I would give it 6/5 stars if i could. It’s amazing to have all the scores in one place and so organized. It’s how i stay up to date most of the time. Makes me automatically love this app. The actual app is great as well, and has many amazing features. The one thing I think could use a tiny improvement is the presentation, the app can feel a but cluttered at times and the horizontal scrolling can be less than ideal at points. Sometimes it just feels like there’s too much on the screen at one time and i think a new menu system or organization would help. Also (this is just a want, not necessary), I think a change (or addition in some cases) to the visual updates to a game’s play-by-play could use a visual improvement (similar to the way ESPN does theirs for football and basketball, with visuals for shots missing/going in, a visual of the court, and overall just a visual appeal for drives/field in football). This would help me to want to use the app for score updates instead of just the widget; I wouldnt be just staring at a blank play-by-play and refreshing. Thanks so much!

The best executed sports app

Over the last 10 years, I’ve used a plethora of sports apps for checking scores and stats. All of the main apps such as CBS, ESPN, TheScore, and BR have shortcomings in (some larger than others) in these two areas. I used these apps, and more, for periods of time ranging from one week to a year +. I was never truly satisfied with any of them.

I don’t care to read articles natively within an app. Especially one that sends me notifications for articles that are locked behind a premium tier. I use a RSS feed already.

I don’t want videos-that-started-as-tweets with un-skippable adds. — I follow my preferred sports journalists on Twitter already.

I don’t care about anything other than being able to quickly check the scores/stats of specific games/teams/players without having to look hard. Sports Alerts does it better and more intuitively than any app out there. So many of the other apps have a prioritization of sports locked into a vertical column. You can change the order, but you can’t quickly get from one to the other faster than searching the game. There aren’t pop up adds littering the page with Sports Alerts. There’s a small banner ad, that’s it. If you don’t want any ads, it offers a one time payment for no ads for life. That’s so rare these days. I really miss when this was the norm. Support the dev(s) who actually give a d*mn.

just the scores (and yet so much more)

* To get the OLD widget to reappear simply reboot your phone and it will return! *

As an Apple Watch user, I find this app absolutely indispensable. While much bigger and more well-known apps are unable to display all the scores at a glance, this app does exactly that. A no-frills view of the scores (I use it primarily for NCAA and NFL football scores). It can do much more, but it knows when to just stay out of the way.
This is the best app if you just want to know the game scores. It’s amazing that all of the other apps I’ve tried just make it so difficult to find the info I want without all kinds of ads and nonsense.

Despite the greatness of this app, which is already well-represented in its reviews, I was prompted to write it to include the note at the top. I actually came to find the contact info for the devs to complain about the new iPhone widgets and removal of the old one that was small and unobtrusive. I looked at some reviews to ensure I wasn’t the only one with this issue, and it turns out the devs responded to one such complaint. The solution was simple: just reboot your phone and the old widget will return. Simple. Crisis averted. Same great widget back where it belongs. I hope someone reads this review and this solves this issue. I was upset but now I am relieved.
