Sproute
Wild plant & foraging finder
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Snap any wild plant and know in seconds if it's safe to eat — with toxic look‑alike alerts and a journal to track every find. New plants added every month
Wild food is everywhere, once you know what you're looking at.
Sproute turns your phone into a pocket field guide. Point your camera at a plant and it tells you what it is, whether it's edible, and what to watch out for. No guesswork, no lugging a heavy book down the trail.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Identify plants fast — snap a photo and get a match in seconds, powered by PlantNet.
• Know what's edible — see which parts you can actually eat (leaves, flowers, roots) and how they're used.
• Stay safe — Sproute flags poisonous plants and warns you about toxic look-alikes that fool even seasoned foragers.
• Keep a journal — save every find and build your own foraging log to look back on.
• Forage in season — see when each plant is at its best so you head out at the right time.
MADE FOR REAL FORAGING
We stick to the wild edibles you'll actually run into — 130+ species and growing — with clear, no-nonsense info you can trust in the field. Wild garlic, elderflower, blackberries, nettles, and plenty more.
A WORD ON SAFETY
Sproute is a guide, not a guarantee. Plant ID is never 100%, and some look-alikes are genuinely dangerous. Always confirm with a trusted source and never eat anything you're not completely sure of. We help you make a smarter call — the final one is yours.
