Look I love this game and can play it nonstop. However recently after the restored content came through at varying points in any type of game run-through even with multiple save files the game will lock into a frozen screen. The last two times Ive played I got through all the content and when i went to Dantooine to see the counsel when i left the ship the screen would just be black, never load anything. Most recently I was playing through DS and on Nar Shaddah Atton called everyone to the ship and after he mutters the words Its a trap the game never loaded or progressed dialouge. Its frustrating to be any number of hours into a storyline only to have it crap the bed and never load. 3 Stars for Nostalgia, ASPYR should definitely look into debugging their restored content, and putting out a patch. Lets see how the Uninstall-Redownload works.
DO NOT BUY! What is going on with your game Aspyr?!
I had KOTOR II downloaded from the appstore on my last Macbook a few years back. Didn't know about the restored content mod until I got to the endgame, downloaded it through the game launch pad, no problem. For that matter, the technical issues and bugs weren't even that bad without the mod (they were totally unnoticeable once I downloaded RCM, the only thing I was missing was some bits of dialogue left out from the final cut, and some improvements to textures...etc.). Now when I download the game on my new Macbook, the link to the Aspyr webpage that's supposed to have the Restored Content Mod doesn't actually let me download the file. Furthermore, when I open up the game, it's laggy as all get out...on the main menu screen! In fact, I have to have my WIFI turned off for the game to launch! What?! Despite e the fact that I bought this game before on another computer and had no problems getting it to work before, now for some reason I come back to find the app store version of KOTOR II an absolute mess. What's going on Aspyr? I don't see any good reason why the app store version of the game can barely function. Unacceptable! You're taking people's money and running, fix your game! Give it the quality it deserves...how much time can it really take to rectify this?!
Try this to fix issues
I am writing this to help those that have bought the app and are unable to get it to run. Whenever I tried to run the app, it wouldn't appear and I could not close it. I'd have to force quit the app to get it to disappear from my dock.
I read on reddit that if you turn off your wifi and open the app without internet, it runs. IT WORKED. I have yet to have a long play session, but no issues so far. Give this a go if you're having issues. (It appears to have issues with game center and achievment tracking).
As for the game itself, I played it years ago and it was execellent. 4-4.5 star game for sure, especially if you like star wars and RPGs. Because it doesn't work as intended, I'm leaving a lesser score for the playability, not for the quality of the game itself.
