Description

I wrote the Starlink Assistant App(SLA) because integrating the Starlink System into my home Internet system was a bit difficult. Another reason is that seeing how the Starlink system works is great fun. I want this app to help everyone identify and fix issues, use, and enjoy Starlink. The app uses color images and help pages to assist you navigate through most issues. The main page displays general information about how it is performing.
The Initial Setup page describes how to unbox & connect all equipment and wiring, install dishy (the Starlink Antenna), and configure the WiFi router. It also has YouTube links to explain how to unbox, install Dishy, configure your wifi router, and how to run a network cable.
The Router/Wi-Fi page includes a test of the connection between the app and the router, display status of Uptime, and Wi-Fi software & firmware versions. Detailed instructions on how to use your own router are also included.
The Dishy page displays your antenna/Dishy uptime, physical issues (if the motors are stuck, an issue with temperature, mast not level, or unexpected location), and hardware & software versions.
The Satellite page will display “No Satellites” time, view all Satellites in real time(View map), show how & when you can see the satellites in the night sky, and a satellite help section. The Satellite help section describes how to use the View Satellite Map and give you a better understanding when satellite positions will be optimal.
The Internet page will display whether the Internet is up or down, average latency times, Internet Speed time for Dishy(Direct Internet times), 4 different speed test checkers and Youtube links for instruction.
The Obstructions page will display if there is a current Obstruction between Dishy and a satellite, Uptime, Obstruction recommendations and status. In case the obstruction is a tree, the app has information on local tree trimming companies.
The Support page how to get Starlink Support, getting the debug information and links to popular Starlink support.
The Help page describes in detail how to use each page (Setup, Router, Dishy, Satellite, Internet, Obstructions, & Support).

I love Starlink Assistant!

This is a great place for all of us with appetites for granular data. You can track the satellites and identify which one you are “talking” to and if you have some trees in the way, no problem because this app has a link to local tree companies. Highly recommend this app.

I love Star Link Assistant!

Nothing more than starlink app data and links.

Very disappointed with this App.
It shows nothing that I cannot already see in Starlink’s very limited app tools and the other things that it displays are nothing more than links to websites I have already found, like starlink satellite tracker etc.
Also the GUI is horrible, it is like it was cobbled together in a single afternoon.

Developer Response ,

I took your criticism to heart and rewrote StarlinkAssistant in Flutter so I could improve the app and allow Android users to access it. The new version is faster and uses later technology. I added several things to the 2.0 version of the app that are not in the "Official" Starlink App, updated the links to more current content, and improved the help section. When I first wrote the app, most of the features were not in the Starlink App. Starlink added them later, probably since I had the features in my app. The new 2.0 version shows the current status of all hardware devices on one page. In the Starlink App, total obstruction and satellite downtime are rounded and do not include all the data, so downtimes are less accurate than in StarlinkAssistant. The Starlink App does not give the average latency over the last 15 minutes, while StarlinkAssistant does. Yes, you can decipher most of this information buried in the debug data, but most people don’t have a clue how to. This app was made for users who don’t know much about Starlink and consolidates all the information in one place. The main reason for this app (besides helping newbies) is to get user feedback to add new features. Maybe Starlink will add the features later since they don’t seem to respond to feature requests. If there is a feature that you would like to see, please send your request to support@starlinkassistant.net, and I will consider adding it.
