Draw beams, pluck strings of light. Generate a whole composition with one tap, then reshape it on a glowing oscilloscope canvas. String Scope is an oscilloscope synth where every sound is a string. Stretch glowing strings across a phosphor screen, then draw beams. Each beam's tracer loops forever and plucks every string it crosses — so the shapes you draw become rhythms, and the strings you place become melodies. HOW IT SOUNDS • Length is pitch: longer strings sing lower, just like a real string. • Thickness is octave: thin strings ring an octave up, thick ones an octave down. • Color is sound: eleven voices — pluck, bell, glass, mallet, bow, organ, buzz, hollow, sine, drum and metal. • Strings tuned to the same note ring along in sympathy. DRAW THE RHYTHM • Beams are loops. Their length sets how many beats they take, and tick marks show every sixteenth. • Draw freehand or pick a shape: line, circle, triangle, square, star, wave or spiral — then move and resize it. • Combine loops of different lengths for evolving polyrhythms. ONE-TAP COMPOSITIONS • The generator writes a complete piece for you — arpeggios, grooves, bass lines, pads and counter-melodies — then you reshape it however you like. PLAY IT LIVE • Transpose the whole piece from a sideways piano keyboard. • 17 scales, from major and minor to modes, blues, hirajoshi and whole tone. • Free tempo with tap tempo. • Select many strings at once to move them or change their sound together. A CANVAS THAT GROWS • Pinch to zoom and pan across a large canvas. • Every composition saves itself. Rename, duplicate or start fresh anytime.
