Logs me out every day. Support request leads to nothing.

Update: after three service tickets, app folks finally reached out to my gym owner and me, we did everything they recommended, and I get booted out every 24hours requiring me to log into my gym every day, password and all. App support closed the tickets before confirming with me that the “fix” worked. I recommend not choosing SugarWOD at this time.

App requires log into primary gym. For some reason there are two ways to do this. I do both, every day, with the gym’s password. And then the app works well. Until the next day, when it has forgotten my primary gym, and I have to start all over each time. That is a glitch. My effort here is to bring up the real issue. The support bot takes my email and info, along with the description of the issue, then no email, acknowledgements ticket, message, or fix. I am leaving this as a way to reach out to someone at SugarWOD who will at least acknowledge my issue and possibly offer a solution. Thanks.

Wonderful app. Just one “little” issue 👊🏻

I really love this app! It makes it so easy to track my classes and keep up with everybody. I have almost no notes for it other than one.

I love that I’m able to see how I rank in my class of the day against other gymmates, and I love that you can be supportive of one another and go through and make comments and fist bump each other.

But there in lies the “little” problem. The fist bump button is so freaking tiny that more than half of the time I end up opening up their workout because I miss the button with my thumb. I want to go through and praise everybody in my class, but it kind of makes it more frustrating on its worth when it can take me twice as long to go through and do that for each person because the button is so small. My only ask is that you make it a little bit bigger, or at least the area around it that reacts to tapping on it larger.

OTHER than that, this app is perfect in my opinion.

Doesn’t load properly

This app is good in general design, but it is buggy and rarely updated. Often won’t load beyond the Home Screen (so you can’t see workouts). Freezes before loading someone’s score on the whiteboard so you can’t see their score or read comments. Often loads only part of their whiteboard score comments — even shows only the top half of a line of text where it cuts off.

Also the “notifications” part doesn’t work well. It’ll show that there are 18 notifications, for example, and when you click on that it says, “no notifications” even though that’s blatantly not true.

Wish the developers would fix these issues, as it’s annoying to use as is.

Love this app

I love this app! I’ve been doing CrossFit for about 2.5 years and I have always kept track of my workouts in a notebook. Sometimes I wouldn’t track because it takes too much time to write down the workout and then track it. Ever since I started using this app I track every workout. I love how I can look back quickly at my 1RM and all my info for any workout. The app is so user friendly and helps build our positive CrossFit community where you can encourage each other on workouts! Nicely done!

Do the developers use this app

The app is great to bring a gym together and interact with your friends, both at your gym and at other gyms. The functionality is terrible though. If it’s working smoothly, it’s usually short lived. Most of the time it doesn’t load individual pages or scoreboard quickly, it crashes/errors daily, you have to go back to the whiteboard to reload the scores multiple times when trying to view member’s pages. There is also no longer a back button on any page except scoreboard pages, so you have to start over at whiteboard if you get too far into pages, or even force close the app when there’s no other button option present. Developers should use this app daily and in depth, as any member would, so they can fix the deficiencies.

Feb 24 UPDATE - Sept 23 Update needs fixing

Feb 24: Still the same issues. This really falls under the heading of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It used to work fine, but since Sept, it’s been awful. I’m going to suggest our gym move to something else because this is painfully unreliable. WiFi of Cell, this app is probably the glitchiest, slowest app I have, but one I’m forced to use daily. You need to hire some devs who can sort this and stop being complacent with the customers you do have. It’s truly poor. You should be embarrassed given the extremely high standards of the community you seek to serve.

OLD: New update is not good. It cuts off sections, margins, and is much slower to load and sometimes locks up on launch. When it works, it’s good for tracking. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Could be great. Suffers from unending bugs.

I've been using SugarWOD since 2018. I use it on my iPhone, but it's the same interface on the Mac. It started out pretty reliable. Unfortunatly the software is very buggy. The list of performance issues is long. In the past 24 hours: the app locked up on iPhone and I needed to quit. The ppp asked me to login but was not able to log me in. The app "lost" today's WOD (it had been there earlier). The scoreboard would not update without quitting the app. the friends tab rarely loads without numerous refreshes. Other athletes' wod pages don't load consistently. Text gets cut off on various screens. ...and on and on. I'd rate this app higher but so many issues have been going on for years now. The app performance is one of the poorest in app land.

Good but needs polish

This app has the right idea, but it’s difficult to use as it often is slow, laggy, and the UI renders in unpredictable ways. For example it’ll often take upwards of 20 secs to load on launch which isn’t great in the modern expectations of computing. Then, button taps and gestures often go unrecognized. Text is sometimes cut off and the app tends to lag and freeze. You can tell it’s an obvious cross-platform architecture that hasn’t been optimized for performance and wasn’t built natively to serve the best possible experience. Would love to see this app become more responsive in the future as it’s difficult to use at times.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I’ve had this app on my phone since 2022. Across multiple app updates, versions of iOS, WiFi connections, cellular connections, and uninstalls and reinstalls (due to issues) this app is consistently dysfunctional.

It’s slow. It randomly signs you out. It sometimes crashes when you enter results and/or try to update your results. It will go through periods of not sending you notifications. What’s most disappointing is that the customer support team doesn’t seem interested in addressing these issues despite my multiple attempts to contact them through their official support channels.

If you’re looking to start a gym or own a gym and are considering an app change, look elsewhere.
