Train chess pattern recognition blindfold-style: read the position, find the tactic, play the moves — no board rendering to lean on. tabasa is a blindfold chess puzzle trainer. Instead of a rendered board, you read the position as text — pieces, castling rights, en passant — and enter your moves. It is built for players who want to train visualization and pattern recognition directly, the way strong players calculate: in their head, not on a board. Each puzzle is rated, and your own rating adjusts as you solve, miss, or give up — so puzzles stay matched to your level automatically. Five difficulty settings let you aim easier or harder than your current rating at any time. tabasa works fully offline. The app ships with a local puzzle library, so you can start solving immediately after installing it — no account, no sign-in, no setup. When you're online, it transparently fetches additional puzzles in the background to keep your library topped up; when you're not, it keeps serving puzzles from what's already on your device. You will never see a network error blocking play.
