TachyMon was created by the developer for his niece Alex, who was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) in the fall of 2021. POTS seems to be an increasingly common diagnosis, especially for young women. People with POTS often experience fatigue, brain fog, rapid heart rate increases and other symptoms. Alex was experiencing frequent fainting (syncope) and we noticed the fainting occurred when her heart rate increased rapidly, or when her heart rate reached a certain absolute threshold (150 BPM in her case). Alex finds that the TachyMon alerts help her to sit or crouch down when her heart rate is elevated, and this helps her to avoid fainting, and to feel a bit more in control of her POTS.

It is a simple, but specialized app, and we hope it may help others with POTS, or people in other situations when it may be useful to monitor heart rate changes.

APPLE HEALTH

AMAZING APP FOR POTS…but

I’ve tried so many apps to try to become more physically active and able to help me navigate through this awful POTS & dysautonomia journey - 24/7 monitoring and alerting, so I can better prevent syncope episodes. THIS APP IS PERFECT in that regard!! I’m a healthcare professional with this condition and desperately wish any and all data could be saved as a report or even logged in any way. This would be amazing for my patients but I wouldn’t be able to see any recordings :( I also don’t understand why there is not a phone app and can only be downloaded on the Apple Watch (tiny screen). Secondly, the app is lacking in education 100%. Understanding POTS given the data from this app would be an immense help for the POTS community. Scientific explanations for the given data would be an impeccable addition to this app. All in all, big thanks to the app team as this is a huge help for us POTS sufferers. I do hope you take these suggestions into consideration. Y’all rock 💙

Thanks for the kind comments. I am working on the iPhone app currently. I would like to know more about how you think the logged information should be displayed - please contact me at info@whipdev.com

FIVE stars and thank you

I tried several apps to get heart rate alerts for my Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) but either the alerts came too late for me to do anything effective or they drained the battery of my Watch completely within an hour! I think it’s so great that the developer made this for his niece. I’m so sorry she has POTS but it sounds like you’re a good uncle and must love your niece a lot. I’m married to a developer, so I know how much hard work goes into app creation!! I have kept my guy watered and fed through many hours of coding. I also echo the other reviewers who appreciate the developer making it free so it’s accessible to all.

I really appreciate that the developer added the ability to email or text the data. Not to be greedy :) but there are two features I would love to have. First is if the data could be exported as a .csv file or similar. I use Numbers to track symptoms for POTS and M.E. and having that in a form where I could export and manipulate the data more easily would be amazing. I would also love it if the app could take HRV measurements because I have to stop a session to get the Mindfulness app to manually take one. Maybe these two things are possible and I just haven’t figured them out! But if these are not possible, I still give it five stars because it has helped me avoid M.E. crashes and POTS flares so much better than any other app. Thank you!!

This app has saved my life!!!

Previous review: So far I love it. I love that it has a continuous alarm and how loud it is. I love the simplicity and not over crowded with crap but I wish the screen text was smaller just a bit. When my average hits triple digits it cuts the text out. I also wish you could choose what alarms you want. I love the high and low and how you can set two alarms for each but I have no use for the average high and low alarms. I also wish it gave a feature where it would text a loved one when in the danger zone. Again love it, just would like to see a few additions.

Update: since the previous review my condition has gotten worse and this app has literally saved my life multiple times. I still wish the text would be smaller so when my average hits triple digits it could be seen and not cut off, but this app has been a life saver and I’m beyond greatful to the creator!!! I use all the alarms now and anyone around me knows what is going on with me just by the heart alarm sound without a second thought. Thanks again!!

Developer Response ,

Thanks for taking the time to update your review. Happy to hear hear that the app is useful to you. Based on your previous feedback I have corrected the text truncation in the next version. I hope this will be available in the app store soon.
