Often misses something & can’t be adjusted

I like the idea of this app, but there’s no way to control it. It grabs what it thinks should go together, merges them as it sees fit, and gives you the option to save/share it or delete it. No option to adjust the merge point or add the missing section(s). I have yet to successfully merge anything more than 2 screenshots long, even when I give it almost a half-screen overlap. Sometimes it stops before the end of the image. This last time it actually dropped one from the middle of a set of 5 screenshots of lyrics, and there are two lines of text kinda faded where it tried to merge non-matching parts in the middle. All it needs is a little extra feature for “add photo here.” It does seem good at matching edges when it has the right photos next to each other, from what I can tell.

Not great—and *definitely* not the best

In my various hours of use and trials, I have found Tailor to not be very easy to use. In one sense, the app does too much for you. It’s difficult to modify whatever stitching determination the app reaches—you seemingly have to delete the original screenshots and then re-screenshot whatever images you’d like to stitch. Moreover the app is not very feature-rich. You seemingly cannot modify stitching alignments, choose the stitched photo organization, and you’re limited to only one type of stitching: the “scrollshot” stitching style as determined by the Tailor app logic.

There is a better app in terms of functionality, called Picsew, which I randomly stumbled upon and instantly loved. Ease of use, in addition to additional features (like modifying stitching alignments, determine stitching organization, multiple stitching varieties [e.g., scrollshot, vertical, horizontal], ability to stitch any photos [including non-screenshot photos], etc.), makes it much better than Tailor.

Assurance of authenticity: I have no affiliation whatsoever with Picsew (or Tailor), nor have I been asked, endorsed, paid, contracted with, incentivized, or otherwise, by Picsew to write this post. This post is a genuine review based on my personal experiences, and nothing more.

Lovely when it Just Works, but no mistake recovery or manual selection options

Tailor works great when you follow the work flow: take sufficiently overlapping screenshots, immediately go to Tailor, and voila: they get stitched together cleanly. Easy as pie.

However, Tailor lacks any kind of manual photo selection option. Sometimes, it turns out that I didn’t include quite enough overlap and have blurry sections in the final image, and there’s no way (to my knowledge) to just add a few more screenshots to get more coverage of those sections and remake the stitched image. Instead, I have to start completely over and retake *all* of the screenshots. This is an unnecessary hassle and can leave me with quite a lot of photo cleanup afterwards, if I was trying to record a longer conversation and had to go through the process 2-3 times.

It would also be nice to have the option to delete the component images once a satisfactory composite has been created. Not sure if the Photos API allows that, but it would be very convenient to be able to single-tap delete them.
