Three setup paths: adults, parents setting up for a child, and teens. Milo adapts his voice to each one.
Meet Milo, your personal focus companion. TaskTerrier pairs a science-backed focus system with a 3D animated West Highland White Terrier named Milo who checks in with you throughout your work or study session.
BUILT ON REAL SCIENCE
The core algorithm comes from OnTaskWare, a 2008 desktop app built by Dr. Noah Weintraub, a clinical psychologist specializing in ADHD. It uses a variable-interval reinforcement schedule paired with the Premack Principle: you earn your preferred activity by staying on task, and Milo checks in at unpredictable intervals so the reinforcement never gets stale. The same principle that makes games so engaging, applied to homework and real work.
DESIGNED FOR EVERY AGE
Three onboarding paths fit your situation:
For adults: Set up your own focus sessions, choose your reward activity, and let Milo hold you accountable with gentle, personalized check-ins.
For parents: Onboard your child with their name, age, interests, and preferred reward. Milo adjusts his responses to match your child's age and what motivates them.
For teens: Self-directed setup with age-appropriate language and a reward menu designed for middle and high schoolers.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Tell Milo what you are working on
2. Choose your reward activity
3. Start your session
4. Milo checks in at random intervals during the session
5. Answer honestly: on task or off task?
6. Milo responds with encouragement or a gentle redirect
7. Earn your reward when the session ends
BUILD STREAKS AND EARN BADGES
Stay consistent and Milo rewards you. Ten badges to earn, daily streaks to protect, and progress stats so you can see improvement over time.
MILO IN 3D
Milo is a fully animated 3D West Highland White Terrier. Between check-ins he sits and paces. Answer one and he celebrates with a trick: zoomies, a spin, a high five, a game of fetch, or a head tilt when he's puzzled.
HONEST ABOUT HOW IT WORKS
Milo uses a curated local response library for most check-ins, so the app works even when you are offline or in airplane mode. When connected, about one in three check-ins uses an AI-powered response tailored to your task, your name, and your interests. A first name, an age or age range, interests, and the current task name are sent to generate those responses. We never send your location, contacts, or photos. We do not sell your data, ever. WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW
The parent path covers ages 5 through 17, and can also be used to set up an adult family member. Milo uses age-appropriate language, avoids social media in the reward menu by default, and never uses comparative praise ("you're so smart") in favor of effort praise ("you stayed with it"). For children under 13, the child's name and exact age never leave the device. The teen path is designed for ages 13 to 17.
