4-Sellers: TCGplayer needs to add Quantity button on Upload page
Solbadguy ex
I would love to rate it a 5 out of 5.. but the reason I gave it 3 out of 5 it’s on major critical issue the reason is when uploading to the seller portal with your inventory their is no Quantity to select so you have to go through a hurdle headache process to add quantity numbers each listing after each successful upload... so the annoying process is this 1) “successfully” upload your listing.. 2) you have to go into your seller account 3) search card name in “my inventory stock tab” 4) edit manage listing 5) edit quality from 1 to 4-playset- 5) save 6) exit seller account mode back to normal app (restart this whole process which is super long and laggy) it’s real headache to do this for every card that has more then 1 quantity... I made mistakes putting in wrong numbers and listing that never made it on the site that I thought got scan it. creates unrest issues when you have lot worth of cards **PLEASE add Quantity amount during the upload phase.. the upload page I’m describing is with requirements take photo, enter market set price & normal or foil then upload... it really needs Quantity amount button so it’s one and done process** thank you for reading!

It actually works very well. Read how I made it work

So I had the issue that majority people were having with the scanner being absolutely difficult, but you really have to just get this set up right and it’ll work great. Get some decent lighting that’s not directly pointing at the cards, you have to put a white paper down and put the cards on top of that in order for it to work, I also had a tripod for my phone which helped because I’m currently scanning 1000+ cards. So trust me with this set up I was just busting through the cards. Keep in mind you’re gonna wanna separate your non-foils from your foils because you have to manually change when you’re scanning foils and normal cards. It also doesn’t scan some borderless foils very well but it was like 3 out 20 that wouldn’t scan so I had to manually input those which is fine and also foil etched cards won’t scan I think at all. I tried messing with the scanner sensitivity in the settings on the app but it didn’t help so you’ll have to manually do those. So yeah, I think the app is extremely helpful. I definitely recommend it but you gotta have the similar set up as me. The tripod isn’t necessary but if you’re scanning bunch of cards, it’s gonna make it 1000x easier but also put the scanner sensitivity option to 3 because it’s very accurate, but it also gives you enough time to grab the card before it adds another to your list making it seem like you X amount instead of one less. I also just do it one at a time because doing multiple is too much hassle.

I miss when TCGplayer was quick and easy to use. Since the update that overhauled the whole app, things have gradually improved and some bugs have gotten ironed out and features have slowly made their way back. But overall it’s often still tedious and unintuitive. If I’m adding cards into a list, sometimes it will just randomly add into the list as a different variant instead of the default variant (like adding into the list as a reverse holo for no reason, instead of a normal holo, for example). I’ve had to go through lists after making them and correct each one that got added weird, and I’ve found no rhyme or reason to why it does this. You used to be able to set it to automatically add cards as certain variants, but now I’ve only found that as an option if adding cards via scan.Searching for certain cards is a massive pain. If you’re looking for Pokemon card from the Evolutions set, if you type “Evolution” nothing shows up. You have to type the entire word perfectly before it shows you the actual card. It’s the little things in this app that if you’re using its features frequently, the inconvenience really adds up to be a massive chore to use this app at present. I think it will probably bet better eventually. it feels like it should all be pretty fixable at some point. There’s definitely a chance some of my experience could be user error or being unaware of features, but if that’s the case, it isn’t straightforward to figure out what’s changing with the features of the app without going to a Reddit board or just trial and error

Should be better

As the most used/most respected pricing platform in the TCG market, I would expect the app to be a bit more refined. While there are always bugs with any app or website, I think the main features should work how they are intended to. The TCGplayer app lacks basic functionality that other apps have exceeded in on their day 1 debut. I just went to place an order, and the app would not let me check out. I got all the way to where I pay, and it just wouldn’t let me. I ended up having to go through the website to place my order. Next, the scanner on the app is absolutely horrendous, and anyone would agree. I’ve gotten maybe 10 cards to scan ever using it, while Collectr will scan cards with ease in milliseconds. It’s humorous that the description of the app on the AppStore page says “scan cards fast.” While there are many other small bugs and always room for improvement, the app does offer something the website does not. The collection tab/feature is an awesome way to track and view market prices of collections. I still prefer Collectr as many of us do, but it’s not bad at all. Overall the UI is pretty good, just give us better functionality and bug fixes. At the end of the day, thanks for providing us with an awesome platform to track all of our expensive cardboard!
