Text Compare 4+

As a writer (not a developer), I needed a quick way to compare two different versions of a paragraph to see if anything had changed. This helps me work with other folks in the writing process, like copyeditors, to quickly catch up on what's happened, and to give them feedback without breaking my poor brain.

As a free app it would be a joke. As a paid app, it's unworthy of Apple and not worth a dime. There aren't even the basic features of saving a redline or printing (other than the useless option to print one page). Don't bother with the "Help" tab. There's no content there. How did this get past Cupertno's QA process?

I was hopeful based on the rating that this would be a nice text comparison application. Didn't even balk at the price for having an app that doesn't violate my privacy but gets the job done.

However, right off the bat, you can only drag drop pdf files for comparison. Being able to drag drop a text file (or other text like files such as source code files) should be a bare bones feature.

So I shrugged my shoulders and just started copy/pasting text from the files directly. No dice. It bogged down on a 2MB text file and I had to force quit it. This was even before I attempted put in the second sample text.

Several attempts to do this with no better results.

So I exported the text files as pdfs and tried to drag drop. First one took awhile but it finally loaded. Never could drag drop the second file in sucessfully.

We have several performance improvements in product development, which will be completed within the next few months. These will help improve the speed of text comparison and allow large files to be compared. Thank you.
