I downloaded this app last week before taking my first-ever trip to Alaska. It was truly invaluable throughout my stay. It was also surprisingly well polished for a first generation app. No bugs or crashes under four days of intensive use. It was also quite responsive, and takes full advantage of the iPhone 4/4s hardware. The Alaska app is very well organized, and very user friendly. All data automatically refreshes each time the app loads, a critical feature for any tourist app. Every conceivable category is accounted for, and there is a very robust search feature integrated throughout the menu system. Finally, the GPS integration is also first rate, in that every destination is automatically displayed with its distance from your current location; they even use the iPhone's compass to show which direction you're currently traveling in. The Alaska app sets the bar high for any other State looking to emulate the success Alaska will undoubtedly have with this app. A job very well done indeed.

This app has it all. We have traveled to different areas of the world and planning our vacations took a large part of our time. When we decided to come to Alaska we did some research, but when we learned about the Alaska app, that was all we needed. The Alaska app gave us information about lodging,dining and most importantly great places to tour. There were dozens upon dozens of activities that we were able to choose from. We enjoyed watching the videos and seeing pictures of different areas around the state because we were able to make informed decisions of what we wanted to do. If you plan on visiting Alaska, then I highly recommend downloading this app. It is easy to use and you will be glad you did.

My husband and I visited Alaska in 2014 and used the Alaska App to help us find nearby restaurants and things to do. It was extremely helpful in planning our trip as well.I love the updates that have been made with the new version! The bigger photos, additional travel advice articles and re-organization is excellent. But my favorite part is I can now experience it on my new iPad. Can’t wait to visit Alaska again. I highly recommend using the Alaska App for trip planning as well as an indispensable tool while you’re in Alaska.

This is probably the best, most well-thought-out application for tourists I've seen. It is location-specific, so it gave us suggestions that were truly local to us in every city, including upcoming events - it wasn't full of stale information. It also included current weather forecasts, and even gave a forecast for the Aurora. Exactly what a tourist would want to know.It served us very well in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Seward, and Homer. I just wish we could find similar apps for other regions that are even half this useful.
