Description

"The Living Library" is a text based RPG collection. Read, scroll and decide.

The stories published in "The Living Library" can be played for free and by anyone who owns a smartphone or tablet. By doing this we hope to demolish any barriers to entry and give Interactive Fiction a fair chance to rise back to their former glory. A hard, but noble quest we find tons of fun in.

There is one finished book

First of all, I just downloaded this app 5 minutes ago, so the 5 star rating is purely for the visual CYOA genre and the nice graphics from the App Store screenshots. I’m writing this review right now to share some information that I was looking for before I downloaded the app but couldn’t find. There are 4 books in this app. Only 1 of them, the Sorcerer’s Tower, seems to be complete. I hate starting a book if it hasn’t been finished yet because by the time the author finishes writing, I’ve long forgotten what the story was about and have to reread the entire thing. There is also no way to tell which books are finished from the main menu. You have to go into each book individually and select chapters to see which ones are still in development. It’s not too bad with just 4 books, but if the library expands over time, it would be neat if we could tell which stories are fully completed from the library menu.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, definitely a great point. The next update will include an indication of the book's progress in the library view.

A very fun time so far!

First off, I definitely recommend this game to anyone who is interested in this sort of interactive story/choose your own adventure type games. It's free after all.

Next I want to piggy back off of something someone else mentioned and would like to request a sort of summary feature. Perhaps when you finish a chapter, a complete summary for that chapter becomes accessible so that if I return after a long time (or am forced to stop simply because further chapters are not out yet) then when I return I won't have to replay everything; I can just read the summaries to jog my memory.

But so far, I'm loving it and I'm glad that these kinds of games are making a mini resurgence again!

Great Game, great stories, active writers

I love this game and it’s stories. It has kept me coming back every time I finish a new chapter to the point where I’ve run out of stuff to experience on here! I know, however, that with multiple writers on their team, the library continues to be updated every couple of weeks or so, and it is worth it to stick around and see what new stories they will write.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the kind words, we hope to see you around for a long time! :-)
