Paper View Needs Fine Tuning

I have enjoyed the paper view of my hometown paper for years on my iPad. Recently they upgraded the app. It is a nice upgrade except for one thing: when in paper view, as I scroll up or down on the page, it snaps either all the way up to the top or all the way to bottom of page.

Unfortunately there is plenty of content in the middle of the page. I find I have to keep my finger on the screen to read the article to keep it visible. Otherwise it will snap either up or down too far to read. Quite frustrating, that. Hope the developers fix this bug soon. I’ll look in Settings to see if perhaps there is a button to turn off this annoying feature.

First significant update in years worth waiting for

We have been digital only subscribers to the Norman Transcript for 10 years. In that time, it has remained largely the same app, which I would describe as very bandwidth hungry and overall only marginally adequate. We are entirely reliant on cellular data for our wi-fi, and frequently it would take a very long time for an article or comic image to come into focus.

These and several other problems with the old app seem to have been nicely resolved by the update. Its functionality with lower bandwidth is greatly improved, and overall it’s a slicker looking product. Better late than never!

Norman Transcript

I enjoy the online edition of the Transcript because it may be easier to read than the print edition. The online version has the ability to increase print size and is easier navigating when trying to finish a story on another page, typical online advantages over print. While I definitely enjoy the print edition, I can live with the online edition.
