Shame on Thinkware. This thing simply doesn’t work. While it seems like a nice idea, it requires that you to give it the app file access permissions, helpfully opens the System Settings necessary to do so… and then appears greyed out, refusing to be selected. Total fail.It also seems odd that it’s asking explicitly for Sandbox permissions. Makes me wonder if something was left unchecked in TestFlight.

When asked for permissions, you are presented with the root of your drive. Select /Applications and click Open. If you are admin which most single users will be, and it will open the app and present you with a viewer application. Under the Settings menu item, select your MPH/KPH setting and your videos will be shown in that metric. Everything else works as it does when you pull the app from your card which is saved after formatting the card for use. (its saved to the card when you insert it but when you format it from your phone it will also save a copy that works on Windows and Mac). Using the Mac App will allow you to update your Mac installed version when you update your apps.. but it’s not clear how often that happens. When in your car you can check your firmware while connected that way but so far I don’t see how to do that from a laptop or desktop then sync that when you connect while in your car. Still this is very functional. No crashes or other difference from the standalone card provided version was observed.

Pointless to offer apps that Thinkware won’t update. This app requests permissions, but they cannot be given. The files recorded are viewable using QT but not the bespoke app - how ironicAnd since many TW cameras have no mobile access, and since TW has no workable desktop software, they have pretty much stranded a whole class of users. Avoid this company and their products is my advice

Similar to others, you cannot give this app access to files. Even if you allow full disk access in Systems Settings, it says ‘you’ don’t have access rights. Utter garbage, pretty much like their mobile access to dash cams - AVOID!
