Tidal Catch

Tidal heritage fishing planner

Free

Tidal Catch is a learning, planning, and record-keeping tool built around the intangible cultural heritage craft of horse-back shrimp fishing. Drawing on classic manuals and published craft standards, it converts the sea-condition patterns and horse-and-rider coordination principles of the tradition into computable advisory models—helping you evaluate a plan, avoid risks before heading out, and build a personal archive of experience. Core Features · Sea-condition modeling: enter six environmental parameters—tide phase, offset from low tide, water depth, water temperature, wave level, and seabed type. · Horse-and-rider operation: enter four operational parameters—step cadence, travel track, net tension, and sand-shaking rhythm. · Success-rate simulation: a weighted score of "sea-condition dimension × 0.6 + horse-and-rider dimension × 0.4" yields an overall success rate, with a per-dimension radar chart and a probability time-series curve across ±120 minutes relative to low tide. · Tidal window: provides the allowable working window (±90 minutes from low tide), the optimal center zone (|offset| ≤ 45 minutes), and a fit score. · Risk diagnosis: automatically detects 8 out-of-range issues—tide window, water depth, water temperature, wave level, step cadence, travel track, net tension, and sand-shaking rhythm—and explains the cause with a correction direction. · Classic library: a built-in offline structured dataset covering craft tips and taboos, the standard operating procedure, and a taboo set, with source attribution (UNESCO horse-back shrimp fishing archives, NAVIGO national fisheries museum standards, North Sea historical sea-condition thresholds, and more). · Logs & archive: simulation results can be saved as logs, then archived, searched by note / rating / tide, compared across multiple records, and exported from the detail view with parameters refilled back into the draft. · Local storage: logs, parameter templates, and archived records are persisted on-device; the interface uses an immersive dark ocean theme. Highlights - Heritage know-how becomes a computable heuristic model, not vague prose. - Sea condition and horse-and-rider dimensions are scored separately, so you can pinpoint whether low success comes from weather or technique. - Defect tracing maps directly to concrete risks, making the diagnosis actionable. - Manual, simulation, logging, comparison, and export form a complete offline loop with all data kept on your device. Usage Note Tidal Catch is a reference aid. All success rates, tidal windows, and risk diagnoses are derived from built-in thresholds and heuristic algorithms; the app does not connect to real-time weather or sea-condition data and does not guarantee any catch. Entered data is stored only on your device with no cloud sync. It is meant for study, planning, and experience building, and does not replace hands-on skill or safety judgment.
