Repurpose an old, unused iPhone/iPad into an audio intercom. Install the app on both your regular phone and the unused one, put the unused device into a remote room in your house and you will be able to talk to whoever is in that room from your phone. No more yelling or walking over! The app can run in two modes: a terminal and a controller. The terminal is what you put in the remote room. In this mode the app runs continuously (turning the screen off is ok) and transmits the sound in and out. The controller is for your regular phone or tablet. In this mode you can connect to terminals to listen and talk through them. There is no "cloud" or "server" - all communications are strictly between your devices on your network. Connecting to a terminal requires pairing using an access code that is only visible on the terminal. All communications are encrypted. You can have as many terminals and controllers as you wish. Multiple controllers can connect to the same terminal at the same time (and speak together) and a controller can connect to multiple terminals (but not at the same time) Features and requirements: - Audio only. This app does not support video. - All devices must be on the same local WiFi network to communicate. - In order to connect to a terminal a controller must first be paired to it. Pairing code is displayed on the terminal (press the "key" button) and can be scanned as a QR code or entered manually in the controller app. - The app can also run in either controller or terminal mode on Apple Silicon Macs. TIP: you can use Apple Configurator to lock your terminal device into a “single app mode” (aka kiosk mode) to make it run just the intercom terminal and not allow to switch out of it.

- Improvements to terminal mode (especially relevant when the device is operating in a kiosk mode where you cannot leave the app) * You can now change the device name or reset the access code without leaving the terminal screen * A Restart button is always available on the terminal screen even if the app is set to run in terminal mode only. * The current app version is shown on the terminal screen. - Fixed an issue with connecting to identically named terminals on different networks. Previously, remembered access codes would overwrite each other. Note that you must upgrade both controllers and terminals for this fix to take effect. - Fixed a tiny memory leak caused by a bug in a library dependency. - The iPad app now officially supports running on Apple Silicon Macs (it worked before but wasn't officially supported)
