Tlon Messenger is a new kind of app: the only tool that lets you own your communications and collaborate peer-to-peer with the people you care about most.

Yours to own, completely
Unlike most software out there, Tlon Messenger is decentralized and open source. Connect to Tlon Messenger with a unique ID you own. Your ID is a key to a stand-alone node that connects to a peer-to-peer network. This means no middlemen mining your data and no concern about its durability. If we disappear, you can continue to use our messenger.

Version 6.2.1
- Adds the ability to send messages with intermittent or no network connectivity by queuing messages into a "pending" state, which will resolve upon successful reconnection to the server
- Adds support for linking to remote file URLs (PDF, ZIP, etc)
- Adds the ability to tap the connected account blocks on users' profiles to see verification details
- Uses exact dates for Gallery posts >30 days old in the channel index
- Replaces the "Copy Reference" function on the Group Info & Settings screen with a "Forward" button, which allows the user to send a reference of the group to the specified channel
- Fixes an issue where you were able to hide your own posts
- Fixes an issue where you were unable to leave a DM with someone who is on a different version of the %groups back-end
- Fixes an issue where the confirmation popup for forwarding a post would stick around forever and block the chat input
- Fixes an issue where posting a link Gallery block with characters other than a pure URL (i.e. preceding or appended text) would successfully post, but crash the channel when viewed
- Fixes an issue where channel permissions were not immediately reflected
- Fixes an issue where theme changes were slow to load and light mode / dark mode was slow to switch when opening the app
- Fixes an issue where group admins were able to seemingly edit others' comments on Notebook posts
- Fixes an issue where having your permissions to read a channel revoked would result in a broken state
- Fixes an issue where if a user had no read access to any channels in a group (yet still permitted entry), the UI would be completely blank
- Fixes an issue where button presses were unreliable in the group options sheet
- Fixes an issue where you could invite someone who is already a member of a group
- Fixes an issue where one could seemingly react to, quote, and reply to messages in a channel with read-only permissions
- Fixes an issue where if a group was deleted, one could continue to post as if it still existed
Ratings and Reviews
Basically decentralized whatsapp meets slack
The app seems to get better consistently. Your data resides on your own “server” so there are no middle men sitting in between your messages with friends / colleagues (a la whatsapp/slack etc…). Hugely supportive and enthusiastic about the future here - truly an n of 1 concept.
No ads, pure networking
Tlon gives you the keys to a peer-to-peer network with no ads or data-mining middlemen, a basic set of tools to communicate with others, and a space to call your own. It’s refreshingly calm and centering to live your life online and not be sold anything in the process.
