With young children I find that they enjoy having options and it gives them a great opportunity to make decisions of their own. The TotShelf app gives children/parents multiple options to choose their interests. Even as an adult I found myself enjoying the process of selecting interests then being introduced to a selection of recommendations that were accompanied by a preview reading of the selected book. All in all I'd recommend giving the app a go. It's very straight forward with simple instructions on how to use which is great since many apps tend to be overstimulating.
