Whether you’re a Tesla owner, or a die-hard fan dreaming of the day you become one, this app is a must-have. With rapidly changing information and the frequent updates that these cars get, it can be hard to keep track of it all. Unofficial Tesla News makes it easy by putting all of the main information sources in one place. In the Tesla world, not a day goes by without some kind of new development, and this app will make sure that you’re always the first to know.

Good News and Bad News

The good news is that the news is good. A good selection and variety that I enjoy reading daily. The bad news is that at least half the time when I bring the app to the front, it doesn’t automatically update, and pull to update doesn’t do anything. I have to close and reopen the app to get it to refresh. It’s maddening.

UPDATE: I added another star, because the new good news is that the bad news is now only kinda bad news. Since I’ve only used the app on my iPad, I decided to try it on my iPhone. What a difference. Everything refreshed instantly. So I opened it again on my iPad and waited. As usual, after a few seconds, only the videos and tweets had refreshed. I usually give up on the news articles after 30 seconds or so, force close the app, and restart it to refresh everything. But this time I waited, and waited, and, well, whadya know. After about a minute, it refreshed.

So what do I make of this? My iPad is an old Air 2, while my iPhone is a new 13 Pro Max. Both are running the latest OS. Maybe it’s the processor. Maybe not. Maybe the developer has some ideas.

Developer Response ,

Sorry to hear that! We aren’t aware of any issues with the live updating. Could you reach out using the Send Feedback option in the app so we could get more details and fix this for you?

Stopped working for a while, but they fixed the bug

Prior poor review was, “ Was good but no longer works

Now every time I try to open the app it flashes and then disappears. I’ve tried resetting my phone and deleting and then reinstalling the app, but still get the same error. Done this several times. Maybe the next version of the app will work 😢”

Actually, I first found a workaround. If after deleting the app and BEFORE reinstalling it I installed a completely different app, this app would work. Apparently, despite the assertion that upon deleting an app all related information was deleted, apparently the prior state of the app was retained. The condition causing the crash kept being reinstated. An installation of some different app deleted the undesired state.
