The official VDOT Running Pace Calculator, designed by Dr. Jack Daniels - named World's Best Running Coach by Runner's World Magazine - and The Run SMART Project.
-Calculate time, distance and race paces
-Calculate training paces by entering a recent race result or estimated performance
-Calculate the equivalent performance of a race result at another distance
-Calculate the effect of temperature or altitude on training or race paces
What's Your VDOT?
VDOT is a measure of your current running ability. It assigns a score to all running performances and let's you equate a time in one distance against another. For instance, you can compare your VDOT score from a recent 5k result to a friend's score who just ran a half marathon. Who won?
What VDOT Level Have You Reached?
Input a race result or estimated performance and learn what score it reaches on the VDOT scale. Enter all your past performances to see which race result scores the highest. There are 10 levels starting at Beginner - White (Female: 31.4, Male: 35) all the way up to Professional - Gold (Female: 71, Male: 80).

Good app from Jack Daniels
Really happy to see this out for iOS now. Very useful for when you are on the go and need to remind yourself of your training paces or if you are coaching others and want to help them find theirs. I have always appreciated the research done by Jack Daniels and I am happy he is finding ways to share that info through new technological ways.
Improvements I would like to see: A way to input your VDOT score and get your training times. I often have mine memorized and its easier to just plug it in then to put in my most recent race. This feature on the website would be great too. I would also like to be able to type in the times rather than using the scroll feature in the app. If possible, having just the number keypad pop up to use for typing would be the most efficient way to do it.
Does its job and does it well, but one suggestion...
Great app and seamless to use.
My only suggestion and wishlist for this app would be to add 6k and 8k to the list of common distances (as I believe the 1600 and 1500 were added not that long ago?) as to make it a little easier instead of having to custom distance those every time for the collegiate users out there and these being two standard cross country distances.
Otherwise thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into making this app what it is!
Cannot see definitions
This app doesn’t allow you to see their definitions of their workouts, making the times it calculates almost useless. If this would be fixed I would rate it a 5!
They got back to me and fixed the problem. 5/5
