Eyes outside. Confidence inside.
VFRview is the VFR flight bag for pilots who fly by looking out the window. Real FAA sectionals that keep working with no signal. Weather in plain English. An honest read on the risk — before you start the engine.Built for student pilots, sport pilots, flight schools, and weekend GA. Not a shrunk-down IFR suite.Charts that never go blank
Download only the sectional detail your route needs. Everywhere else, a national terrain map still shows terrain, water, roads, and airports. You are never staring at a blank screen.
A briefing you can read
METAR, TAF, NOTAMs, and AIRMET/SIGMETs decoded into sentences. Compared with your personal minimums for ceiling, visibility, and wind. It will read the briefing aloud if your hands are busy.
The risk, before you start the engine
Legal VFR is not the same as a smart go. VFRview runs the FAA’s PAVE check — Pilot, Aircraft, enVironment, External pressure — then rolls it into a Flight Risk Assessment scored against limits you already chose. Low, Elevated, or High. You can see the math. The app does not say go or no-go. You do.
It coaches
Every EFB will draw a magenta line. These three try to make you a better
VFR pilot: Pilotage Coach — visual checkpoints. In the air, a quiet card: the lake on your left, two miles. After landing, a debrief students and CFIs can use.
Radio Coach — non-towered calls in plain English. Other apps show the frequency. This tells a student what to say — inbound, downwind, base, final — with optional speak-aloud.
Glide & Options — nearby fields with distance, runway, frequency, and how the wind treats the glide.
Private by construction
No account. No tracking. No ads. No analytics. Flight plans, logs, and tracks stay on your device.
The facts
iPhone. Portrait. One-handed. Lower 48. Fully offline for charts, terrain, airport data, and calculators. Charts and airport data from the FAA. Weather from NOAA/NWS. Advisory only — see and avoid. The pilot in command decides.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
VFR sectional charts for the entire United States are now built right into the app — no download required. Open VFRview anywhere in the country and your chart is already there.
Want extra detail for where you fly? A new one-tap option lets you download sharper, closer-in chart detail for your home area or anywhere along your route — with a quick before/after preview so you can see exactly what you're getting.
Also in this update:
• A thicker, easier-to-spot course line on the moving map
• More reliable performance when GPS or signal is weak — clearer status messages instead of a blank screen
• Smoother first-time setup
Thanks for flying with VFRview — more improvements on the way.
