VideoPad Video Editor 4+

I hate admitting it but this thing has made me cry multipe times over multiple projects. It can do a lot and is really easy to figure out, but is a nightmare once you finish what youre working on. I recently finished the first draft of a video, about a months worth of work, and everything was going smoothly until I started trying to go back through from the beginning again. Suddenly it takes about an hour to load and process the files when it didn’t even take a minute before, and it crashes after about a minute or two. What’s worse is I tried editing a video clip at the very beginning and it messed up EVERYTHING. Video clips are now overlayed and I have to find them to seperate them, audio is no longer aligned with the video, text and extra audio is all over the place. This insanity also started happening on my last project, but I was able to just save and export it before anything too bad happened to it, even though it wasn’t finished either. And I last about half my work on the video I finished before that one, just gone like I never did. I kept coming back to it because it can do most everything I want to do while being free, and I keep hoping maybe it was really me messing it up or that the updates will have fixed it, but it just keeps reuining projects I’ve spent weeks working on and will not allow me to fix them. It could be a great video editor if it didn’t destroy the every video you use it to create.

It’s a very good program with only a few quirks remaining. I’m re-writing this review since many of the issues that made it difficult to use have been fixed. There are still a few occasional bugs and design issues but as of now I’m quite happy and feel a lot more confident spending time using this software. If I were to have my druthers I’d want to see it develop so that it remains elegantly simple & powerful even as its ease of use is streamlined. Cheers mate(s)!

Hello, Your feedback is very important to us. We do try to keep our software easy-to-use for everyone while providing all important functionality. We will pass them along to our developer and we will fix the bug on the next release. 

Edit: The issue described below somehow resolved itself. The developer reached out to me, but after trying various sensible things and still having the same issues… suddenly, Videopad worked as well as ever, even better. I’m very glad. I do love this app and use it a lot. Thank you to developers and support. I’ll leave original review below in quotations, and I’ll up the star rating to the well-earned five stars.

"Worked great, once I learned how to avoid problems with exports turning into files that wouldn’t open. I have used it a lot. However, after the most recent update to 8.79, I’m having many troubles… not the least of which is that most of the time I can’t export to file on the Macbook because it hangs up forever trying to process “sound” that isn’t even there. When I move a clip into the time line, it shows up there, and remains there with or without editing, as just a block of gray. This isn’t the place for details better suited for Support. Videopad worked great. I loved it. After the 8.79 update, I VERY sadly can’t use it anymore. Perhaps it will be restored to something that works for me with what I have."

Would you mind also giving us a few details about your setup? What kind of hardware/interface are you using? What software version do you have? What were you doing when you encountered the issue?
