Description

Lay down and take a VO2 Max reading. 3 mins. Simple.

How is this done?

Loved how this worked

Completely inaccurate. My VO2 should be terrible but my result was 80. Free app or not there is no excuse for not following the equations available.

Do you take any medication, like beta blockers ? If you take another test, do you still get a high result?

Will have to do more testing

For everyone that is complaining that it’s a waste of money, it’s a free app. I appreciate the fact that the developer created an app that doesn’t require in app purchases.

I’ll have to see if this is really that accurate. I’m sure it’s not as accurate as sports physiology testing equipment. That’s OK, provided that it is consistent. If it shows improvement overtime, it’s probably a useful tool to determine whether or not your cardiovascular fitness is improving. I’m not so worried about the absolute number, but I do hope that it is consistent and can be used to track progress overtime.

Thank you for the review. You are correct when you say the app is not going to be as accurate as a proper medical test, but is a simple guide and the hope is to encourage people to take up exercise. Users that use the Apple Watch workout app will find it will records your VO2 for particular workouts, and yes it is a more accurate measurement because it is an active measurement.

1 year

I only review products I’ve used consistently for at least 1 year.

I was frustrated when I first downloaded it because the age font is small enough that I couldn’t get it to adjust. I worked that out after a few tries.

My first few readings were high, these were taken without exercising, but when I took it during or immediately after a workout I found that it gave me a relatively close, although a bit low, reading.

It has to be tight on my wrist to work properly. I now take 4-5 readings throughout the day with at least two during my workouts, then I average the results.

For a free app I thinks it’s a great tool when used properly. Don’t expect to get a highly accurate reading from it, the technology just isn’t there yet, however using this beats paying thousands of dollars a year and cumbersome equipment to get a daily vo2 max reading.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your review. The VO2MAxX you getting is a rough estimate, calibrate statically against the averg population. A true Vo2Max can only be measured in lab, where you wear a oxygen mask that measures your O2 intake while doing an exercise (like running, cycling) that would exhaust the O2 in the blood.
