Description

A bit of a twist to the word drop puzzles. Many people can see Braille letters in many places. My curiosity encouraged me to add a Braille version to my Word Drop Series so here it is! It doesn't take long before you can recognize the individual Braille markings, so a fun learning aid.

Move your finger across the letters to make words within the time period. There is a time bar at the top that starts with green and changing to red as your time runs out. The dictionary in this game has over 60,000 words! As you touch a Braille letter a voice will speak that letter. If you back up your selection the last letter in the word you're building is spoken. When you release your finger and complete a valid word the word itself is spoken.

Use the ghost button during play to briefly show the Roman letters over the Braille.

When the time runs out your largest word, game score, and highest game score is shown.

Thank you to freesfx.co.uk for a couple of audio sound effects.

Good Practice

I’m not good at word searches so it’s nice to have the timer off. I’m still learning Braille. This game is helping.

An expanded dictionary would be welcome as there are many words that the game will not accept.

WD Braille is perfect now!!!

I used to know Braille. I am sighted, but wanted to relearn it. I enjoyed WD Braille as it was written, but was sometimes frustrated by the timer running out too soon (for me). I put in the request for the timer to be able to be turned off and was so happy that when I updated the app, it was done! I am so thankful, David. You’ve made me so very happy! Perfect app

Racial slur

I downloaded another app by this developer to practice my braille. I was appalled when one of the words was a racial slur against Latinx. I emailed the developer in case it was a mistake.

His reply: “People see what they want to see. I'm not responsible for a tiny fraction of the population that wants to see something that was never intended.
There is no issue to rectify. Since I use the same database of words in other apps I'd suggest you never download another app of mine just to be safe.”

Even if I was wrong (which I wasn’t and proceeded to show him through multiple definitions from from online dictionaries) this was not an appropriate response.

I would give a negative rating if I could. This is not acceptable.
